Abstract

Anchors are the foundations used for resisting the uplift force on the structures caused by wind loading, both onshore and offshore. Many investigators have proposed approximate techniques for determining the collapse load of anchors. They are generally based on assumed failure surfaces having cylindrical, truncated cone or curved shapes. In this paper, some of the of the experimental and theoretical investigations using the model and centrifuge tests and the research work that have been carried out using finite element analysis, and their limitations are presented.
