AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CEMENT MORTAR WITH STEEL FIBRES
Abstract
Cement mortar posses’ very low tensile strength, partial ductility and little resistance to crack. Addition of minor closely set apart, homogenously distributed fibre’s act as blow arrester, substantially increase static & dynamic stuffs through growing water content flow, plastic shrinkage and drop in strength will arise. With reducing water contented hydration process is imperfect, rise in gel space proportion will happen. By adding plasticizers and extra chemicals for workability and to achieve strength will act for the time period. To come through these two problems by the addition of small quantity of fibre’s efficiently control early age plastic shrinkage & cracking. It is generally acknowledged that steel fibres are added to advance the toughness, abrasion resistance and impact strength. In this work, the mechanical and durability properties of cement mortar by adding 1%, 2% steel fibres by weight of cement and sand are deliberate and compared with the control mix.
