Abstract

Now a days, the usage of natural fiber reinforced composites are growing rapidly due to the need to protect our environment. Due to the very fast growth in technology it is necessary to stop the materials which are harmful to environment. Natural fibers like flax, jute, coir, bamboo and many other natural fibers are used in making composite materials, which are eco-friendly. In this experimental study, natural fiber flax material is reinforced with carbon fiber and glass fiber. The mechanical properties of these composites, such as flexural, tensile, compression and impact tests are evaluated through universal testing machine and IZOD impact testing machine for impact tests. The composite (carbon + flax + carbon) can withstand the maximum flexural stress 539.03MPa and the maximum tensile
stress of 232.77 MPa. The composite (glass + flax + glass) can withstand the maximum compression stress of 146.85 MPa and the maximum load of 10.2 joules.
