Concrete is now being used on a mass scale throughout the world which encourages use of chemical admixtures to produce concrete to fulfill structural need or to modify concrete placing; curing or ultimate physical properties. So it is necessary to find some alternatives which areeconomical, eco-friendly, sustainable and obtainable. In this series, for an alternative of chemical admixtures, a concept of Effective Micro-organisms was introduced. EM is entirely a natural technology which uses the concept of natural fermentation of organic matters. The object of this experimental work is to evaluate the effects on the cement paste and the concrete of Effective Microorganisms (EM) in concrete grade M20 & M30 with OPC (43 grade) in which EM varies from 5% to 25% at an interval of 5% by weight of water required for the concrete mix calculated for the concrete design mix as per Department of Environment (DoE) method. This study explores the performance of concrete under the influence of Effective Microorganisms (EM) in terms of consistency, Initial and Final setting time, compressive strength at the various time period of casting at 7 days, 14 days &28 days, slump, the flexural strength of beam at28 days.
