Abstract

The reutilization of waste materials as a new construction material as being one of the main objectives with respect to sustainable construction activities. This paper reviews on use of recycled concrete aggregate collected from construction and demolition waste as coarse aggregate in conventional concrete. Some researchers have dedicated their work to find the properties of the recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) and to find minimum requirements for their utilisation in conventional concrete and the properties of concrete made with recycleaggregates. This paper summarizes the findings of previous investigations in relation to the properties of various ingredients used in production of concrete from natural concrete aggregate (NCA)and recycled aggregates. The test procedures which
correspond stovarious mechanical properties of the recycled concrete used in rigid pavement works. Finally, the conclusions of the researchers who had contributed to the field of identifying the suitability of recycled aggregate in construction works is presented.
