Abstract

Cable-stayed bridges are becoming more popular because of its longer spans and asthetic appearance. In this project an attempt has been made to analyze the seismic response of cable-stayed bridge of single pylon and two equal side spans. The 3D model of the bridge is prepared by using SAP2000 software and analyzed with Non-linear static method (Pushover analysis). The responses of the bridge obtained are in terms of base shear, displacement and acceleration. These results are compared by considering the structure without soil structure interaction (SSI) and with SSI. Here the effects of soil structure interaction are considered through the springs at base. Inclusion of SSI is found essential for design of cable-stayed bridge, where the soil condition under the tower is soft.
