Abstract

Ancillary services are defined as all those activities on the interconnected grid that are necessary to support the transmission of power while maintaining reliable operation and ensuring the required degree of quality and safety. Ancillary services may include scheduling and dispatch, frequency regulation, voltage control, generation reserves, etc. There are some services which can be provided competitively and some services which come under the direct control of the system operator.
