Abstract

Drowsiness while driving is the most vital reason behind the horrific accidents happening over tedious routes such as highways. The motive of this paper is to design portable drowsiness alert system which can be mounted on the vehicle's cockpit (cars, trucks, etc). Based upon the images captured by the camera mounted along with the project setup, we aim to detect the drowsiness level of the driver. For the analysis, the magnitudes of head movement and the blink rate of the eyes are obtained. Based on the analysis the respective sensors are triggered using the microcontroller to alert the driver. The entire system is implemented using pic  Microcontroller.
