Abstract

In this paper an attempt has been made to present petrography and chemical data for the principal minerals (biotite, cordierite, garnet, orthoamphibole, orthopyroxene, sillimanite, plagioclase and spinel) of the metapelites from different localities in the Eastern Dharwar Craton viz., Pavagada, Bidaloti and Bandihalli areas to bring out the differences, similarities and petrogenetic significance of these minerals from one locality to another. At the end of the paper, various geothermobarometric models are used to quantify the pressure-temperature conditions of metamorphism in the Eastern Dharwar Craton.
