Abstract

This paper presents a means for reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by reducing decaying vegetation in the forests and eliminating forest fires. The basis for this process is the conversion of vegetation to charcoal by pyrolysis – heating in the absence of oxygen. The process can be self-sustaining by using the gaseous pyrolysis products to fuel the entire operation.
