Abstract

To investigate the solute-co-solute, solute-solvent interaction, the volumetric, viscometric and compressibility
behavior of potassium bromide, potassium fluoride in aqueous lactose solutions (5%, 10% and 15% wt of lactose) at 303,
308 and 313 K have been studied. Using the measured values of density, viscosity and ultrasonic velocity the acoustical
parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (β), free length (Lf), relative association (RA), acoustic impedance (Z),
relaxation time (τ), classical absorption coefficient (α / f2
), apparent molal volume ( v), limiting apparent molal volume
( v
˚
), adiabatic compressibility (β), apparent molal compressibility ( k), limiting apparent molal compressibility (
k
˚
), Falkenhagen coefficient (A), Jones-Dole coefficient (B), hydration number (Hn) have been calculated to study the
molecular interaction of potassium bromide, potassium fluoride in aqueous lactose solutions.
