Abstract

In this paper, different orders of the IIR Butterworth filter have been taken and realized. The performance of different order of the Butterworth filter has been analyzed in terms of stability, implementation cost, magnitude and phase response, pole-zero plot, step and impulse response and round off noise power spectrum. It has been studied that by changing the filter order there are variations in characteristics of the filter. By keeping order high, it was observed that there is an increase in the sharpness of the pass band and stop band interface as well as there is a reduction in the pass band and stop band attenuation but eventually, it increases the complexity of the system.
