Abstract
Subgrade plays a very importantrole in flexible pavement design. If the clay uses as a subgrade that hasunfavourable properties; such as low CBR andhigh swelling phenomena. This condition can cause damaged and low duration, especially in road highway. This paper presents the effect of Quick lime on the California bearing ratio and swelling potential of expansive soil-lime mixture. The lime content varied from 2 to 10%. The results indicated that the value ofCBR, differential free swelling index (DFS) andswelling pressure of expansive soil-lime mix. The CBR valuesof the expansive soil increased with the increase in the lime content and that of swelling pressure is decreases with increment of lime. The CBR test is performed for 3days soaked condition.
