Abstract
Bearing is an essential component of any rotating machinery. Even a small crack or defect generated on bearing elements can cause machine breakdown and it can lead to major economical losses. A test rig has been designed and developed for experimental study of bearing vibration. The vibration response for healthy and defective bearing in dry and lubricated condition has been studied. The study of vibration response of the bearing having multiple defects on either of races and rolling element in both dry and lubricated contact is studied. The characteristics defect frequencies are visible in vibration response depending upon the location of defect on bearing elements. The effect of load, speed and defect size on vibration amplitude has also been discussed. This study holds important significance for condition monitoring and preventive maintenance.
