Abstract

The key element of the current investigation work is the illustration of the experimental setup and procedure for rheocasting experiments by means of stirrer for molten Al alloy and suitable instrumentation to realise the same. In this work, a physical process is considered which represents a rheocasting process in presence of electromagnetic stirring. This includes a comprehensive description showing details of the various rheocasting mould components, snapshot of physical rheocasting mould used for experiments and snapshot of mould cooling with water jet impingement. It also describes the variables which affect the phenomena during processing. In addition, variable viscosity is used to represent the fluid as semisolid slurry. The standard safety measures are also followed in the current experimental technique by keeping in view all the relevant facets.
