Abstract

In this study the performance of the asymmetric building during the ground motion is made. In present scenario most of the buildings are often constructed with irregularity. Past earthquakes studies shows that most of the RC buildings having such irregularities were severely damaged under the seismic ground motion. This paper presents an overview of performance of the torsionally balance and unbalanced buildings also called as symmetric and asymmetric buildings subjected to pushover analysis is done. In this study the effect of eccentricity between centre of mass and centre of storey stiffness is made. The performance of the building is assessed as per the procedure prescribed in ATC-40 by pushover analysis.
