Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to thoroughly investigate a subject of analysis in order to reveal a new understanding about the D3 tool steel at different soaking durations. In so doing, it contributes new knowledge to what is already known from previous studies. In general, the structure of the case study is not all that different from a standard level analysis paper. However, there are subtle differences in the analysis. D3 steel is a type of carbon or alloy steel that is mostly manufactured into tools. The analysis includes Rockwell hardness test and wear analysis test which will be conducted on heat treated D3 steel for varied soaking time for quenching and normalizing. Hence, we look forward to find the best suitable soaking period.
