Abstract
After experiencing few vulnerable earthquakes seismic evaluation of structure has become vital even postearthquake assessment are emphasized. This study will cover an approach to assess a seismic vulnerability of earthquake. Conditional probability of structural response when subjected to earthquake loads as a function of ground motion intensity or other design parameters are represented by Fragility curves. These curves are valuable tools for the valuation of probability of structural damage due to earthquakes as a function of ground motion indices or design parameters. Fragility curves - show the probability of failure versus peak ground acceleration. Seismic fragility analysis helps in improving the performance of a structure. For the analysis, the RC buildings were modelled in SAP Computer Program. Non-linear Static analysis procedure is used for the analysis of RC buildings. Model of Existing building designed for nonlinear Static analysis. In the present study, For the purpose of generating fragility curve bunch of eight Indian earthquake ground motions are selected. Demand is obtained from spectra constructed for corresponding seismic events normalized, and scaled from 0.1g to 1.0g. Using Capacity Spectrum Method maximum displacements are obtained and response matrix is created. Based on the damage states and the response matrix, the fragility curves of the Building are constructed. Finally, using constructed fragility curves various performance level requirements were estimated. The fragility curves developed from the analysis were used to study the seismic performance of building models.
