Smart Grid System -Tariff Based

Ronak Metange , Rupali Gajbhiye, Savitri Dhanawade · PG Student, Saranathan College Of Engineering,Tamil Nadu, India, IN

Abstract This Paper investigates the concept, implementation, and impact of Tune of Day tariff and other tariff based incentives / disincentives. The paper covers specifically following points. Design of 'Time of the Day' (ToD)/ 'Time of Use' (ToU) tariff structure for industrial consumers encourages consumers to shift their energy usage. Under To D tariff, consumption during different hours (period) of the day is charged differently. All the consumers are not aware about this type of tariff structure.

1. Detail study of ToD tariff structure applied to different industrial consumers and its effect. 2. Study of different incentives/disincentives given to these consumers such as power factor incentive, load factor incentive, power factor penalty etc. 3. Approach of ToF towards this tariff structure. The cost incurred by utility for this purpose is recovered from different consumers by applying a suitable tariff. Load curve of Indian utility is peaky in morning and evening hours. Differential between demand and supply is increasing day by day. Naturally cost of generation will also increase in order to meet the peak demand. To reduce this difference it is necessary to shift the load of certain consumer categories to off peak hours. The demand for electricity in India is increasing every day. As per consumer demand, utility is required to generate, transmit and distribute electricity among different consumers. The major load on utility system is industrial, and hence if industries would take initiatives for flattening the load curve by shifting their loads from peak hours to off peak hours, it will be profitable to both, utility and industry. To motivate consumers towards this goal is a challenging task.

THIN FILM COATINGS effect ON DRILL BIT

M.S. KULKARNI , NILIMA GOVEKAR · Student, Department of Mechanical, Mandsaur Institute of Technology (MIT), IN

Abstract In view of the lack of reliable predictive wear theories, this paper was set up to study, experimentally, the effects of PVD surface coatings namely TiAlN, TiN+TiAlN, AlCrN on carbide twist drill bit by drilling the mild steel as work material. In the case of the TiAlN and AlCrN coated twist drill bit, an improvement in the tribological interaction between the coatings and the workpiece and also increased oxidation resistance resulted in a significant reduction in material transfer at the cutting edge. The above results are discussed in terms of the major flank wear. The use of coatings for cutting tools is nowadays widespread, however, wear mechanisms are not always understood, and a clear relationship between coating’s laboratory characterisation and operational machining performance are seldom assessed. The possibility of correlating the laboratory characterisation results with real tools operational performances would be a key issue in reducing development costs of innovative coatings. High oxidation resistant coatings, such as TiAlN, are used extensively in global manufacturing for reducing production costs and improving productivity in such aggressive metal-cutting operations. In this investigation, the performance of uncoated, TiAlN, TiN+TiAlN and TiN+AlCrN coatings was assessed on DIN6357K Carbide twist drill bit used to machine mild steel. As part of the study, the experimental method was used to characterise the performance of the twist drill bit by measuring of the progression of major flank wear. It showed that a multi layer TiN+TiAlN coating and uncoated drill bit failed to outperform TiAlN and AlCrN coated twist drill bit when machining mild steel under aggressive machining conditions.

UTILIZATION OF HYBRID FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION- REVIEW

Manohar Jadeja , Vishvanath Rupani, Vijay Divan · M.Tech(Structure), goa college of engineering, IN

Abstract The brittle nature of concrete results in sudden unpredictable failure. By using special hybrid fiber combination of steel and polypropylene fibber whose aspect ratio are 50 and 33 respectively. Concrete is one of the most resourceful and environmental friendly building material. The main objective of this study is taking weight fraction of the FIBERs used in this study varied from 0 to 0.50% with an increment of 0.25%. Concrete cubes will tested under positive static loading, and the results were evaluated with respect to strength and ductility. Test results indicate that the provision of HFRC in concrete enhances the strength, ductility, and is one of the possible alternative solutions for reducing the congestion of reinforcement in concrete. The hybrid combination of 0.50% steel fibber and 0.50% polypropylene fiber has best performance considering the strength, energy dissipation capacity.
