DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF FOUR WHEELER AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET

Abstract In order to get better designs, the industry was using tools like the FEM Optimization from couple of decades. These types of optimization techniques are useful in validation and optimizing the design to get new size and shape. These techniques surely reduced the design time, when compared to the experimental testing. In this project an engine mounting bracket is selected for analysis; there are four mounting brackets to mount the engine on chassis. This is a very important parameter as the product market life is reducing and there is a need to get more new and better designs with less time to decrease the cost and at the same time increase the stiffness to mass ratio and performance. In this project I have reduced the mass in 0.22kgs per component and as per the cost wise in the year 352000 Rupees saved.

INVESTIGATION ON WATER POLLUTANTS, THEIR CHARACTERISTICS AND EFFECTS WITH GIS-STUDY AT KURNOOL DISTRICT

Abstract Groundwater quality has a major significance, being the major alternate source of domestic, industrial and drinking water supply and therefore it needs greater attention of all concerned. Contamination of ground water has been observed world-wide, and it is become self evident that concentrated human activities lead to ground water contamination. The present study focus on the spatial distribution of various chemical parameters such as pH, F, Cl, iron, nitrate, alkalinity, TDS, total hardness using GIS techniques for villages in Panyam mandals of Kurnool district, AP. The Water Quality Index (WQI) has to be calculated to find the suitability of water for drinking purpose. From the analysis we can identify the areas with poor or good water quality index. Geographical Information System (GIS) is a computer based system designed tool applied to geographical data for integration, collection, storing, retrieving, transforming and displaying spatial data required for proper planning and management of natural resources. The present study attempts to understand the spatial variation and influence of external factors and ground water composition for taking preventive measures to protect the groundwater resources in the study region. The present study was taken under the regions of Panyam mandals villages, Kurnool.

STATIC AND THERMAL ANALYSIS OF STRAIGHT AND V-SHAPED FINS CYLINDER HEAD USING FEM METHOD

Abstract A cylinder head is multi-dimensional container having considerable depth to house ports of air and gas passages, it shelters the inlet and exhaust poppet-valves, houses the spark-plug or injector location holes, forms the upper face of the combustion chamber, and takes the combustion-pressure reaction. It is bolted to the top of the cylinder block, in which the piston reciprocates inside the cylinder. The aim of the project is to design 2-cylinder heads (straight fins and V-shape fins) and analysis is done by using different materials. Cylinder heads are modelled by using SOLID-WORKS software. SOLID-WORKS is a 3d modelling software widely used in the design process. SOLID-WORKS is used by the automotive and aerospace industries for automobile and aircraft product and tooling design. Analysis is done on the models by using different materials. Comparison between materials is done by observing the results of displacement and stress with respect to tables and graphs. Thermal analysis is also done. Analysis is done by using software ANSYS. Here existing material is steel and new materials are (al-6061, cast iron, and monel-400) by comparing all static thermal results we conclude which material is more optimum in both static and thermal loading conditions

Six Sigma Approach for Rejection Analysis in a Bearing Manufacturing Company through DMIAC Methodology: A Case Study

Abstract This paper presents a Six Sigma approach undertaken within a needle bearing manufacturing company, by reducing rejection rate of assembly line and improvement in overall sigma level of bearing production with identification of different rejection criteria and reduction of cost of poor quality. The objectives accomplished by the application of Six Sigma approach to quality enhancement research work in the particular needle bearing manufacturing industry. Paper presents Six Sigma approach through five different phases: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC). Some of the major findings while carrying out Six Sigma DMAIC tools and methodology on the assembly line of the company was: 1. the vital reason of the rejection of the bearing was due to needle missing from the bearings which is mainly due to loose pocket of welded cage. After repeatedly brainstorming session and applying DOE( Design of Experiment – L8 Orthogonal array), it is found that the reason is related to cage used in bearing. One more interesting finding was related to pocket where butt welding done where defect occurs more frequently. Hence, issues related to production of cage were minutely examined through DMAIC principle and sigma level of assembly line got improved. Six sigma tools used during the research work are SIPOC diagram, Measurement system analysis, Process mapping with identification of KPIV’S and KPOV’S, Current process sigma level, Pareto chart, Cause and effect diagram with cause validation table, Capability analysis, Control charts, DOE, Failure mode effect analysis(FMEA). This research work promotes the importance of six sigma and its application in the present day competitive manufacturing scenario. On the basis of one year data taken and one month after the research work, Increase in sigma level of assembly line was observed. This research work propose in exploring and providing a more clear view on an ongoing problem in the process of welded cage production and a suitable temporary solution was provided with a permanent long-term solution also proposed.

Change Dynamics Study in Land Use and Land Cover Using RS & GIS for Erramanchi Village in Ananthapuramu District

Abstract Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) data is essential for determination, arranging and implementation of management strategies to meet the increasing demands for essential human needs and welfare of the regularly developing population. This dissertation delinates the status of Land Use/Land Cover in the Ananthapuramu District in Andhra Pradesh utilizing an integrated approach of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information system (GIS). Land Use and Land Cover (LU/LC) changes were identified using the suitable sentinel-2 satellite imageries of temporal difference of three years i.e., 2015 to 2017 using Quantum GIS. The comparison of LU/LC from 2015 to 2017 derived from topo-sheet and satellite imagery interpretation indicates that there is a significant increase in Builtup area, water bodies, Fallow land and other lands. It is also noted that substantial amount of crop land, Plantation and forest area vanished during the period of study which may be due to rapid industrialization of the study area.

Optimal Network Reconfiguration using BPSO in Distribution Systems

Abstract Network reconfiguration in distribution systems can be done by changing the status of sectionalizing switches, and is usually done for minimizing losses, voltage improvement, or for load balancing in the system. This paper deals with the reduction of real power loss in the distribution system by reconfiguration of the distribution network. The optimal configuration with minimum real power loss is to be found by applying different optimization techniques. In this paper Binary Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (BPSO) optimization technique is used to find the optimal configuration. This method is tested on IEEE 33-bus distribution system. The results show that the reconfiguration is very useful in reducing active power loss and improving the voltage profile of the network.

Experimental Study on Strength behavior of Concrete with partial replacement of Cement with Silica fume and Coarse aggregate with waste Tire Rubber: A Review

Abstract A very large amount of waste rubber tire are being generated each year all around the world. Being nonbiodegradable in nature their recycling is not easy. On burning they produce very toxic and harmful smoke. So the only option is to dump them to landfills. It is also not a proper solution as it takes a lot of space and stockpiles of waste rubber leads to soil pollution and contaminate water bodies along with ground water. Statistics show that every year more than 500 million tires are discarded to landfills, and the estimation is about 5000 million tires would be discarded by 2030. Many research studies has shown that the waste rubber tires could be used in concrete. Concrete with rubber tire has shown reduction in compressive and flexural tensile strength but they do possess some positive aspects as they have better toughness, impact resistance, thermal and sound properties. This paper presents a literature review on using waste rubber tire in concrete as a partial replacement of cement, coarse or fine aggregates.

An Efficient Method for Privacy Preserving and Data Truthful in Data Markets

Abstract This paper contends that big data can have diverse attributes, which influence its quality. Big data veracity is currently being perceived as an essential property for its usage, supplementing the three beforehand settled quality measurements (volume, Variety, and speed), But there has been little talk of the idea of veracity up to this point. This paper gives a guide to hypothetical and exact meanings of veracity alongside it are down to earth suggestions. Study of Tensile and Flexural properties of hybrid nettle and glass fiber reinforced polymer composites

Abstract Composite materials are getting attention of researcher day by day because of high tensile strength and high weight to strength ratio. New materials are being developed for different application. Polymers when reinforced with natural fibers give advantage like low weight, high strength, low specific weight and bio degradability. Synthetic fibers have widely used for fabricating polymer composites. Now a days to make synthetic fibers composites more applicable, synthetic fibers are mixed with natural fibers. In this study hybrid composite of nettle and glass fiber is fabricated and their tensile and flexural strength is evaluated. Specimen are prepared with hand layup technique. Results indicated that nettle fibers when hybridized with glass fibers increases tensile strength and flexural strength. Flexural strength of nettle and glass fiber hybrid composite is largest among all specimen.

PILED- RAFT FOUNDATION FOR HIGH RISE INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURE

Abstract The design of high rise building for industrial structure with piled raft foundation on clayey soil in UPSIDC industrial area, sandila city, hardoi district. The higher load transfer buildings which are lies on loose soil. They cannot design with shallow foundation. It is necessary to provide deep foundation .in present area combination of shallow and deep (piled-raft) foundation is used. Piled raft foundation is adopted to reduce the total and differential settlement of foundation. In the present study, analysis of piled raft foundation is done by “plate on spring” approach in which the raft is represented by an elastic plate while the soil and piles are modelled as bed of equivalent spring at nodal points and intersecting spring respectively. The stiffness of pile is estimated by procedure given by Hazarika and Ramaswamy(2000). For the estimation of soil stiffness a method by de-beer and martens (1975) is employed for sand. For clays the same is estimated using immediate and e-log p curve. Software for the analysis of raft using finite difference method, estimation of stiffness for soil and pile and structural design of raft and pile is developed in SAFE software. Using this software a typical case study is analysed and results are presented. Abstract A huge amount of ash pond is being generated by the thermal power plants and other such processes involving combustion of coal in developed and developing countries. It has a hazardous effect on environment and human beings. Some of the largest coal reserves are there in India hence, it is one of the largest producers of coal and coal based thermal power plant installations. The current rate of deposition of Pond ash in India has reached 160 million tons per annum. Around 90 sqkm acres of precious land is used for the storage of abandoned Pond ash. But itscurrent of utilization rate of ash is only around one/third of its total production. The fly ash is disposed in the ash ponds. This practice leads to an ever-increasing ponding area for storing ash and causes environmental issues for the people living around the industrial area including thermal power plants. The developmental projects like construction of highways and roads has taken a boost in the recent years. This requires a huge amount of natural soil and aggregates to be either excavated or deposited. The opportunity cost for such development is an environmental and economic issue. These issues need to be addressed by adopting some alternative methods. Pond ash is one such by-product which can be used as material for filling in some of the geotechnical constructions. It is a non-plastic and lightweight material. The present work describes the effect of moisture content, degree of compaction, synthetic fiber as a reinforcement on various geotechnical properties of pond ash are studied. A series of tests including direct shear test, CBR test, light compaction as well as heavy compaction test, unconfined compression test was performed to estimate the strength characteristics of compacted pond ash using polyester as a reinforced material. Physical properties of the pond ash were studied by performing tests like specific gravity test, grain size distribution test by mechanical sieve analysis. This study is helpful for the successful application of pond ash in different fields such as embankment construction, road base and sub-base construction, designing of retaining walls etc. It also provides an ecofriendly approach for the disposal of pond ash

Abstract Camshaft is one of the vital parts in the I.C. engines of automobiles. The cam shaft and its allied parts i.e. push rods, rocker arms, valve springs and tappets regulates the opening and closing of intake and exhaust valves. It acts as a timing device that governs the setting the valve overlap that arises at TDC (Top Dead Centre) of the exhaust stroke. The shaft is made with some journals that ride on bearings inside the engine. The camshaft is certain to crankshaft rotation by a timing chain, timing belt or timing gears. Any failure in the camshaft drive can cause the valves to make contact with the piston crowns, leading to extensive internal damage. In this paper, optimization of existing automobile camshaft material using different composition of metal matrix composite is studied. This study focuses on optimizing the camshaft by selection of the best material along with the loading condition by employing MOORA technique and Taguchi based Desirability Function Analysis approach to minimize the maximum stress, maximum deformation and maximum strain obtained. Analysis has been conducted using the Taguchi’s design of experiment; L16 orthogonal array in ANSYS 17.2. The developed predictive model is used to search for an optimal setting. It will not only help in designing it faster, but also help in developing more specific camshaft which would be beneficial in larger displacement engines.

IMPROVE DYNAMIC VIEW AND OPTIMIZATION FOR DATA TRANSFER IN CLOUD DATA CENTERS

Abstract Cloud Storage Providers (CSPs) provide geographic databases with different cost savings classes. One of the main customer issues of Cloud users is the exploitation of these storage classes and the cost of at least different jobs. This price includes residential value (i.e. storage, maintenance and expenditure) and potential transfer cost (network price). To solve this problem, we recommend the preview algorithm that changes liners programming and linear programming techniques with accurate knowledge of workload. Due to the problem of high end of this process, more awareness is needed; we recommend two online methods to stop advertising between residential and transfer expenses and to convert storage class into CSP. This is the first online algorithm that determines the cost and maximum cost requirements. More expensive data store residences spend 2 offline instructions on any webpage or cost savings. The second online approach uses "Reader Horizontal Control" (RHC) technology, which uses the time, spent using information and information for future file load information. As a result of proposed suggestions, face book Jobs was demonstrated by simulation using work-based operations.

The major problem faced by any industry is to obtain the optimal machining process parameters and minimize the surface roughness(Ra) and tool wear(Tw) of a super alloy. In present work effect of cutting parameters (current A, Pulse on time µs, Pulse off time µs ) on output parameters (i.e. Ra, Tw) has been studied during machining of Ti6246 while machining it with graphite electrode. Machining parameters are optimized by RSM based BBD Technique, using the desirability analysis for minimizing the surface roughness, and tool wear. The study indicated that the optimal parameters for Multi Response Optimization were found to be at current 4.5 A, Pulse on time 50.07 µs, Pulse off time 100 µs

The Selfcompacting concrete is throwing for M30 and M40 review with the bond is supplanted by MK as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and fine total is supplanted by CS as 0%, 20%, 40%, 60% by weight. The usefulness of new SCC was evaluated by Slump table stream, L-box, and V pipe Tests. Compressive test, flexural test, and a split test were done for the set properties. Acid(corrosive) assault, sulphate assault, and sorptivity were done for solidness trial of SCC. The outcome demonstrates that 10MK-40CS mix of SCC gives most extreme quality of all blends. Abstract The (CBR) California bearing ratio Test is a test first developed by the California State Highway Department (U.S.A.) for evaluating and enhance the bearing capacity of sub grade soil for design of flexible pavement. Soft soils form problematic sub-grade for pavements due to its low bearing capacity and their strength. Pavement loads coming on the soft sub-grade soil may cause pumping actions when it is located in areas with high water table which causes both construction and in-service performance problem. The common solutions on en counting such problems include excavation and replacement of soil. Excavation and replacement of soil becomes very expensive especially when used as soils have to significant distance. Stabilization using various additives and different material can improve the properties of soils. Now-A-days recent trend in stabilization is to be utilized locally available industrial and material wastes to improve the properties of soils. In this procedure has the dual advantage of increase the strength of soil and a solution for the problematic disposal of such wastes. Coir waste consisting of coir pith and coir fiber is a by product of coir manufacturing industry obtained from coconut husk during extraction of coir fiber. The pollution is caused due to the poly phenol leaching and the resistance to degradation due to the stable lignin structure makes the coir waste a potential threat to the land resources. The permeability and the CBR constitute two important parameters in the design and assessment of long term performance of the pavement. In this project only strength aspects of pavement sub-grade have considered. It is very natural process. In laboratory investigations and experiment have been carried out on a number of soil samples procure from different roadwork sites. Starting tests, it provide a good strength.

Abstract In this competitive era of sports, bicycle Helmet based game gaining popularity and everybody want to win so the knowledge of sports engineering become very important. We either do not know about science behind it or very less information is available in open domain. Even a very little information can play crucial role to win the game. In every game like volleyball, football, golf, cricket, rugby, baseball, tennis and bicycle racing aerodynamic and thermal comfort play an important role; Most of the bicycle helmet is elliptical shape with maximum vents for the thermal comfort. To study the computational performance aerodynamics and thermal performance studied at 30 to 70 kph speed and at 45ᵒ and 90ᵒ pitch angle, It has been found that at 45ᵒ pitch angle is the more efficient for thermal comfort than 90ᵒ pitch angle, at 30 kph velocity temperature drop is more but at 60 to 70 kph temperature drop is very less. Variation of temperature have been studied and found the little difference in temperature at different pitch angle.

A Review of Electrical Discharge Machining on Titanium based Alloy

Abstract Titanium belongs to the family of super alloys it is known as the metal of future because it possess potential to be used in aerospace, automobile industries, biomedical parts; surgical tool, due to excellent properties like high specific strength, low thermal expansion, good corrosion resistant at elevated temperature, also in subsea oil and gas operations, good wear etc. one of the major problem which is faced by the manufacturers in manufacturing Titanium parts is that it is very tough to use conventional machining process. Therefore it will be best to use thermo electric processes for machining super alloys like Ti64, Ti6246 etc. EDM are developed for micro electrodes and micro-holes are actually used but most of them involve micro-EDM machining. In this work, the aim is to review the effect of machine parameters on Ti64 by varying parameters such as electric parameter and non-electric parameters on MRR, EWR, surface integrity, hardness, DVEE, surface topography, composition and problems related to flow of debris. The study reveals that MRR can be increased by adding 4.0 g/l fine suspended graphite particles (10 µm)in kerosene as dielectric fluid with 30% reduction in  breakdown voltage at the cost of higher discharge frequency which in turns increases MRR which is greater in case of B4C particles in de-ionized water as die-electric fluid. SEM shows more micro cracks on machined surface due to crater mechanism these micro holes leads to failure of the component at high pressure and temperature conditions particularly in case of plane engine blades.

Abstract The corrosion resistant property and mechanical strength of cladded stainless steel is completely depends on the clad bead geometry which can be obtained by the controlled parameters. Hence, the aim of this work was to examine the effect of process parameters on stainless steel cladding deposited by GMAW and also the micro-structural changes at the interface and corrosion resistance behaviour were studied. Cladding is the process of depositing any corrosive resistant material over the base metal, to achieve the corrosion free surface in order to get the higher economical and longevity output. In this paper the analysis of result was done by design of experiment (DOE) method using L4 orthogonal array, followed by S/N ratio, main effect plots and interaction plots to analyze the effect of process parameters on dilution. This experimentation reveals that welding current and voltage significantly affect the dilution and also the dilution increases on increasing welding current and voltage. The result obtained from the experiments was analyzed using MINITAB 14.

As present water efficiency is 25-40 % it can be improved to 70-80 % by PDN. The main purpose of this research is concentration of use of PDN instead of CDN. As the flexible conversion of existing CDN into PDN or construct a new PDN. Hence PDN is economical and feasible than the CDN. This paper is based on the design of PDN of Lower Pedhi Irrigation Project, located at Amravati district of Maharashtra state, which is initially designed to irrigate C.C.A. of 12230 Hector by CDN and we now research for gravity PDN.

Abstract This paper presents the experimental study of flexural behavior of RCC beams reinforced with glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars and steel bars. The glass fiber reinforced polymer has low elasticity and lower stiffness than the steel reinforcement. The use of GFRP bars in reinforced concrete structures has emerged as an alternative to traditional reinforced concrete beam. A total four RCC beams were tested. The size of beam is length of 1.5m, width 0.15m and depth 0.15m (1.5x0.15x0.15) m. Out of four beams, two beams were casted with GFRP bars as reinforcement in tension zone with M20 and M25 grade of concrete and remaining two beams with steel bars as reinforcement in tension zone with M20 and M25 grade of concrete. The RCC beam is tested under two point loading by using universal testing machine with simply supported condition. Experimental results indicates the load deflection curves for the beam specimen’s and crack pattern of the beams.

STRENGTHENING OF CONCRETE CYLINDERS WITH CFRP SHEET

Abstract Strengthening of Concrete structures with externally wrapping CFRP sheets and plates has become very popular over the past decade. Wrapping is generally applied to concrete specimens, with the aim of enhancing their load carrying and to increase concrete strength and ductility. When concrete cylinder is loaded to axial compressive stress, it expands laterally. The Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) has significantly enhanced the strength and ductility of concrete by forming perfect adhesive bond between concrete and the wrapping material. In this work, studied the behavior of the concrete wrapped with bidirectional GFRP sheet under uniaxial compression. Specimens considered for the work was cylinders having circular in shape of diameter 150mm and height 300mm. Experiments were conducted on concrete cylinders with and without CFRP wrapping. Three specimens were tested with conventional concrete and 1 layer, 2 layers and 3 layers of 100mm center wrapping. The specimens were tested for compressive strength and split tensile strength. Along that stressstrain curve is presented to predict the axial compressive behavior of CFRP wrapped and unwrapped concrete cylinders by noting deformations at different loads. Comparisons between the analytical results obtained using the proposed model and experimental results are also presented

Abstract In this paper a multi storied Pesticide Processing Plant structure is considered and it is analysed and designed with every one of the parameters. The analysis and design was done according to the standard specifications to the potential extend. Composite members are structural members composed of steel and concrete. It combines the advantages of both concrete and steel. In recent years, composite columns are gaining popularity over conventional reinforced concrete (RC) columns for high-rise construction because of its higher strength-to-weight ratios, better fire resistance, better ductility, structural integrity, durable finishes, dimensional stability and sound absorption. The analysis of RCC and steel structure was done using the software package “STADD PRO”.V8i and the analysis of Composite columns was done using the software package E.TABS. All the structural components were designed using Staad pro, E.tabs and MS-excel. The detailed reinforcement was done in AutoCAD 2016. Abstract As we know that, the concrete is composite material and it has relatively high compressive strength, but significantly low tensile strength. The use of externally bonded fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) has become increasingly popular for civil infrastructure applications. The Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) has significantly enhanced the strength and ductility of concrete by forming perfect adhesive bond between concrete and the wrapping material. The present investigation studies the behavior of the concrete wrapped with bidirectional GFRP sheet under uniaxial compression. Specimens considered for the work was cylinders having circular in shape of diameter 150mm and height 300mm. Experiments were conducted on concrete cylinders with and without FRP wrapping. Three specimens were tested with conventional concrete and 1 layer, 2 layers and 3 layers of 100mm center wrapping. The specimens were tested for compressive strength and split-tensile strength. In addition, a stress–strain model is presented to predict the axial compressive behavior of GFRP Wrapped and unwrapped concrete cylinders. Comparisons between the analytical results obtained using the proposed model and experimental results are also presented.

Abstract R.C.C structures are subjected to vertical loads such as self weight of structural members, self weight of brick work, live load on floors etc. and horizontal loads such as seismic and wind forces. Due to these lateral loads, lateral deflection and support reaction increases. The behaviour of RCC structures is different under horizontal and vertical loads. The RCC moment -resisting frame are observed to be vulnerable in seismic active areas or locations. India is divided into four seismic zones based on past earthquake history and are been published in IS 1893(PART-1)-2002 Code of practise for seismic design. In the present study, shear wall is provided for lateral strengthening of high rise structure and it is observed that the structures with provision of shear walls have increased stiffness in the directions parallel to the length of the shear walls. But the optimum location and position of shear walls is to be identified based on the lateral forces. In order to find the optimum location of the shear walls in the present study four structures of G+6 storeys with and without shear walls are considered in various seismic zones II, III, IV, V. Analysis is carried out using staad.pro(v8i ss5) software. Height, length and width of the structures are kept constant and seismic loads are calculated as per IS 1893(PART-1) 2002 and wind pressures across the height of the structure is calculated as per IS 875-1987 (PART III).

REDUCTION OF HEXAVALENT CHROMIUM USING BIOFILM FORMING ISOLATES

Abstract The toxic form of chromium found in industrial effluent which is discharged into the potable water is of high risk for the existence of the life. Removal of this element by indigenous bacterial isolates haven proven to be very effective in treatment of this waste. In this study 3 organisms isolated from different indigenous sources and are tested for the removal of Hexavalent chromium. Batch and column studies were performed for chromium reduction. Batch studies were conducted for 3 isolates with different concentrations of Cr (VI) i.e from 50 mg/L to 1000 mg/L using only nutrient broth and 5% glucose. The isolates were able to survive, resist and reduce in different concentration of Cr (VI). Column study was performed with Isolate 1 for the reduction with an initial concentration of 1000mg/l. The isolate used in sand column reduced more than 50% of the 1000mg/L of Cr(VI). The experiment has shown good results in both batch and column studies. An Initial concentration of 200 mg/L of Cr (VI) was reduced from 95 to 97 % by 3 isolates in batch experiments. The biofilm forming isolates are found to be well fit for heterogeneous sites,which is indicated by the Freundlich isothermal studies.

A thorough literature appraisal of developing countries was done and a list of factors related to time & cost was revealed. It has been seen from the extant literature survey that Client; Material, Manpower & equipment; and external related factors were the key reasons for the time and cost overrun. The projects can be completed successfully with minimum or no time and cost overrun if the projects are handed over to the professional planners, management and executers having professional experience in their field.

Cutting forces play an important role in assessing machinability of the aluminium metal matrix composites. This paper is an attempt of development of a finite element model and machining simulation to determine cutting force. ABAQUS 6.13 software is used to perform machining simulation on aluminium metal matrix composites with tungsten carbide inserts.

Abstract Mix proportioning is the process which involves the determination of correct combination of its ingredients such that the resulting mix yields desired characteristics at its lowest possible cost. The proportioning of HPC requires a special method of mix design as compared to NSC because of its lower water-binder ratio and use of different chemical admixtures and supplementary cementitious materials that would change the properties of concrete in both fresh and hardened state. Chemical admixture is a must for the production of HPC to achieve the desired strength. The effect of admixture on the type of cement should be verified using trail mixes, as HPC uses both chemical and mineral admixtures (SCM). For the strength greater than 70 MPa, silica fume is a must for the production of HPC. BIS method of mix design is applicable for a maximum compressive strength of 40Mpa hence it cannot be applied directly for HPC. The mix proportions for the present study is carried out by the popular method proposed by Aitcin [Mehta P.K. and Aitcin P.C, 1990; Aitcin P.C, 1998]. Concrete of strengths 60, 80 and 100 MPa were developed by using locally available FA and CA with OPC 53 grade cement, SCM and superplasticizer.

Abstract India has a track record of huge earthquake incidences in the regions like Bhuj, Kutch, Delhi, Himalayas and periphery of Nepal etc. Recent earthquakes are evident that structures designed in these seismic prone regions are severely damaged due to the seismic excitation. Therefore structures situated in this particular region have to be given more importance in their design and execution rather than structures located in other regions where earthquake is not frequent. Bhuj earthquake is an ideal example where structures were not able to resist the earthquake; especially the structures are multi-storied buildings, water storing structures, load bearing masonry structures etc. Literature is evident that ample amount of work have been carried out as far as multi-storied buildings are concerned. This particular project deals with water storing structures like overhead tank. To study the Seismic response of overhead R.C water tank subjected to heavy seismic excitation. A water tank is considered in zone V. The volume of overhead water tank is about 10,00,000 liters ≈ 2,64,172 Gallons. To understand the seismic response different F.E.M mathematical models of overhead tanks have been modeled/generated in the software SAP2000 v17. Equivalent static analysis and response spectrum method have been used to predict the seismic response. To study the influence of full tank during seismic loading a detail stress analysis has been performed (Von Mises Stress Criteria).

Performance Analysis of Hybrid Electrolysis Enhanced Anaerobic Digestion Reactor in Treating Distillery Spent-wash

Abstract In this study performance of HEEAD (Hybrid Electrolysis Enhanced Anaerobic Digestion) reactor was analysed and compared with that of EGSB for treating distillery spent-wash. HEEAD is a new type of reactor, in which, an EGSB (Expanded Granular Sludge Blanket) equipped with electrodes. A direct current (D.C) power supply of voltage of 3.6 V to 28.8 V, used to start electrolysis, resulting in the enhancement of biogas liberation. Two reactors, HEEAD and EGSB were run simultaneously, compared in terms of their performance, stability and biogas production. It has been observed that, reactor stability of HEEAD was better even though COD removal was slightly lesser than that of EGSB and biogas generation had increased up to 73% compared to EGSB.

Abstract Multi-storey buildings are nowadays common in the urban and semi urban region where land value is of huge cost. In regions like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai etc. have a problem of land, but these regions are considered to be financially rich cities in India. But these regions are seismically active where earthquake forces will govern the design. Generally in these cities buildings are of irregular configuration and vertically irregular, showing unacceptable responses due to seismic forces due to which structure may collapse since Bhuj earthquake is a great example where majority of the structures have been collapsed due to improper flow of inertia forces. Columns and shear walls are the major elements which are responsible to transfer the lateral forces safely to the ground. IS 1893:2002 and 2016 gives the guidelines for plan irregularity and vertical irregularity great concentration have to be given when this situation arises in the seismic prone regions. To study the effect of plan irregularity and vertical irregularity simultaneously 9 different mathematical models have been generated in E-Tabs 2015. To evaluate the seismic response equivalent static analysis and response spectrum method have been used as specified by IS 1893:2002 and 1893:2016.

LOGARITHMIC METHOD OF GROUNDWATER QUALITY INDEX IN PALAR BASIN AT CHITTOOR DISTRICT, ANDHRA PRADESH

Abstract Logarithmic method of Water Quality Index (WQI) was applied in Palar basin, chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh for calculating WQI and assesses the groundwater quality, total 50 groundwater samples were collected. Using eleven water quality parameters (pH, Total hardness, chlorides, Dissolved solids, calcium, Magnesium, sulphate, Nitrate, Flouride, Alkalinity, and sodium).Groundwater Quality Index (GWQI) a congregate parameter representing the quality and suitability of groundwater for drinking purpose is computed using logarithmic method. The WQI value 63.83 is maximum and the value 14.28 is minimum in the study area. The computed WQI shows that 94% of water sample fall in the ‘good’ to ‘excellent’ water category. On the other hand, 16% of water samples fall in the ‘fair’ to ‘poor’ category indicating that the water is not suitable for direct consumption and require treatment. After treatment, the water can be used for drinking purpose.

Undisturbed soil samples used for this experimental study are treated with thermal power plant effluent and discussed its effect on the engineering properties after a maturing period of 7 days, 50 days, 100 days and 150 days. The results shown more changed in geo-environmental properties for testing soil with the soaking period. Knowledge of the effect of chemicals on the geotechnical properties of contaminated soil is essential to reduce the problems that geotechnical engineers faces while placing new structures on sites with contaminated soils. This will facilitate the invention and introduction of site specific technologies.

Abstract Routers are the most used computer numerically controlled machines for cutting different various materials are aluminium,acrylic sheet , woodworking, generated by a software are available in a range of configurations from a number of manufacture industry.CNC Carving router system which was used in CNC carving machine was normally used for engraving, woodworking, drilling, 3D milling, PCB drawing, aerospace making applications. It can be used with design art cam software. The software used to control this CNC carving machine to control system by Arduino nano microcontroller in Grbl software, frame can be used with aluminum material. It this material is used because light weight. The main aim of this project is to reduce cost of the machine, it should be develop for educational purpose, and everyone can operate, this machine is portable, light weight, laser engraving, small sizes, and USB interface low cost and simple to use.

Abstract Additive manufacturing is an advanced manufacturing technique which can be used to create 3d objects out of information provided in the form of computer input by joining material layer by layer to form a final component. By the use of 3Dprinting, material wastage can be reduced and manufacturing rate can be increased. This technique makes it possible to manufacture complex and novel shapes and unusual material properties, for example propeller, turbine blades etc., like shapes can also be easily printed using this technique. This project explores the effective use of 3Dprinting. In this current work a gas turbine blade was created by modeling in NX CAD10.0. Then the model was analyzed by means of applying the structural and thermal loads in NX Nastran to analyze its load bearing properties. Then the blade is manufactured using 3Dprinting, which was cost effective and has proved that the material wastage was reduced.

Mechanical performance of M30 Grade concrete utilizing NFA and NRHA

Abstract The largest man made material used in the world is Portland cement concrete. No other material except water is being used in such huge quantities. Portland cement concrete structures exposed to aggressive chemicals, high temperatures, humidity extremes i.e., severe environments tend to deteriorate and the intended service life of the concrete goes down. The production of one tone of OPC consumes 1.5 tonnes of raw material, 80 units of power apart from abatement of about one tonne of CO2 gas into the atmosphere. The production of Portland cement contributes about 7% of world’s total, greenhouse gas‟ CO2 emissions. The deterioration of concrete results in wastage of natural resources used in concrete apart from the monetary loss. In light of the facts that the production of OPC not only cause environmental pollution but also causes depletion of natural resources quickly becoming hindrance for sustainability, there is every need to reduce the OPC content in concrete and use the so called waste material like Rice Husk Ash, fly ash etc., into the concrete to make concrete, greener’. The Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) located at Muddanur in Kadapa district produces about one million tonnes of fly ash every year, about 25 million tons of rice husk ash is produced in India every year. Many researchers have investigated the characteristics of concrete using fly ash and rice husk ash. But very few of researches have attempted to find the properties of concrete using Nano Rice husk ash and Nano Fly ash. The present investigation results reveal that the uses of Nano fly ash and Nano rice husk ash improve the properties of OPC concrete. It is also observed that the use of Nano fly ash and Nano rice husk ash is effective in improving the mechanical properties like compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength when compared to the micro/ordinary fly ash and rice husk ash. The Nano fly ash and Nano rice husk ash concretes can be used effectively to improve the mechanical properties of M30 grade concrete

LIFE SAVER MEDICAMENT REMINDER

Abstract Across the world patient adhesion to medication regimes has become a large problem. Considering all medicines it’s been estimated that 75-80% of people don’t take their medicines on time properly. We know that non-compliance is epidemic. In order to promote their well-being, guiding the individuals to take medicine on time is very important. Taking the medicines regularly helps patient to maintain their health. In this paper, we propose an approach of using raspberry pi as the principal controller. “Life Saver Medicament Reminder” allows a person to organise several medications that reminds patient’s to take medicine in time. This framework contains an interactive user interface with automatic LED indication and buzzer. The main purpose of this device is not only going to be useful to the elder one’s but for the people who are unable to take their medicines on their own and for the people who are very much involved in their hectic works.

TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS OF BALANCED CANTILEVER BRIDGE

Abstract Infrastructures are nowadays a huge requirement in metro cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore etc. The days are evident that the traffic volume intensity has been increased like anything in the recent times. Hyderabad city is a real-time instance of traffic volume which leads to construct the flyovers in the various parts if the city. Generally the flyovers are either simply supported or rigid in nature (Example: PVNR Express Hyderabad, Punjagutta Flyover Hyderabad). These flyovers are known as segmental bridge; they have been meant for small spans and extended for huge length. The areas like traffic intersection this segmental bridge is not adequate where the lengths are prolong in the particular instances a large span bridge or flyover has to be selected where the traffic intersection should not be disturbed. The best suitable bridge for this particular case is balanced cantilever (two overhangs with mid span). To study the behavior of balanced cantilever bridge for a span of 100 m. a bridge is considered and a FEM mathematical model has been generated in CSI Bridge V15. The bridge is assumed to be subjected to real time earthquake in the form of Time History acceleration (Elcentro). The particular bridge is having 100 m total span in which each over hang is of 25 m and mid-span is of 50 m and width of the bridge is about 15.5 m. The parametric profile of the bridge is parabolic. The bridge is having 2 lane and 4 lane o traffic flow and it is subjected to IRC Class AA vehicular load HSN- 44 ASHTO Vehicular load. The bridge is having intermediate supports of bent and bent cap made up off bent beams and bent columns (3 columns).

TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS OF UNDERGROUND TUNNEL

Abstract In the present paper study of non-linear dynamic analysis of underground rectangular tunnel considering different seismic intensities is carried out and seismic responses of such structure are studied. The tunnel under consideration is modelled with the help of SAP2000 software. The two different time histories (i)El-Centro earthquake (ii)Nepal earthquake have been used. The results of the study show similar variations pattern in Seismic responses such as displacement, velocity and acceleration with intensities (Mw = 6.9) and (Mw=7.8). From the study it is recommended that analysis of underground rectangular tunnel using Time History method becomes necessary to ensure safety against earthquake force. The analysis is performed to compute the displacement and internal force in tunnels that took place in each phase of construction and loading. The earthquake loads are applied to the tunnels during operation.

Abstract The Braced Elevated Water tanks which currently practicing in India are catastrophic if they were subjected to severe horizontal thrust like Earthquake. Water tanks are very important for storing and distribute water to the farther end of the user in the distribution system. Especially elevated water tanks have specific significance in storing and supplying water for maintaining suitable pressure for the reach of public houses and also for the industrial uses. Demand of water is day by day increasing because of increase in the population. The need of revision of water tanks with more precautions in design after proper analysis with extreme loads has to be made for the survival of human community.

In this paper, an Octagonal braced elevated water tank with 400 m3 has been designed and analysed with Time History Data of El Centro Earthquake with peak ground acceleration of 3.417 m/s2 and lasts for 53.76 sec for finding the response of the structure such as base shear, tank displacement, Max Bending Moment at the base of column under tank for Empty, Full and Half Full condition have been calculated and then results have been compared. For this study, Staad pro v8i software is used for design and analysis of water tank and compared results for all conditions of the tank.

AUTOMATE THE FLOW OF MATERIAL USING PULL SYSTEM (KANBAN SYSTEM)

Abstract This paper deals with Master Production Schedule to give a broad outline of the requirements for resources at different work centers in the production industry. Using a pull system in MPS for the purpose of deciding appropriate resource requirements of work stations, this system is not used to decide the production rate for each workstation. In the pull system, the information regarding material move is the same as the push system. But the information concerning processing of parts or build schedule is given by the subsequent process. Hence the material direction and build schedule information direction opposite to each other. A kanban in a pull system is a card attached to a standard container that issues the production and withdrawal of parts between work stations. Kanban system is used to control the production of parts. Kanban system is used to reducing waste at every workstation and improves production as well as the quality of the product. The present article briefly explains of kanban system and how to use this as a tool for managing production as well as inventory.

REPLACEMENT OF NATURAL AGGREGATE WITH FLY ASH AGGREGATE WITH ALKALI BLINDERS

Abstract In thermal power plants, combustion of coal for power generation gives fly ash much quantity as a byproduct. It identifies as a cementitious material as well as environmental pollutant. So in the present day’s people look at more utilization of fly ash in many structural purposes like back fills, dams, Earthen dams, partial replacement of cement, in road ways and as a light weight aggregates by adding some binders. In this study, concrete grade of M20 is design with fly ash is used as a cementitious material partially as well as complete& partial replacement of natural aggregates with fly ash aggregates. And also conducted the compression tests on these concrete cubes got a comparable result with conventional concrete cubes. The fly ash aggregates are prepared in the proportion of fly ash to cement ratio of 90:10 with alkali - binder ratio is 0.35. Here alkali-activators are 14M of NaOH and 50% of Na2SiO3 solution is added in the ratio of 3.6(Na2SiO3/NaOH). The above proportion of aggregate is fixed in this study by testing 25 trail mortar cubes were tested. In this way got maximum compressive strength is 33.6MPa.at 28days. And also conducted the tests on fly ash coarse aggregates. Crushing value, Impact value, Abrasion values are within the allowable values. So based on the obtained aggregates strength and properties are suitable for sub-base course in road ways. These light weight aggregates are used in the buildings (as non-structural elements) are having good seismic resistance, fire resistance and good sound absorption.

Abstract Guanrong Chen and Ueta found a simple three dimensional autonomous system in 1999 and this system is not topologically similar to Lorenz’s system as well as a double scroll chaotic attractor. This work examins the dynamical nature of the fractional discrete time Chen system with order between zero and one. The ordinary differential equation of the Chen system is described by the following form Here abc , , assume non-zero positive values. Applying a discretization process, its discrete version of FO Chen system is obtained. Fixed points are obtained and using Routh-Hurwitz criteria, the stability of the system is analysed. Numerical verification are presented for the analysis of dynamical properties of the system. Time series and phase orbit diagrams for the discrete time FO Chen system are constructed. Numerically solving the system of discrete fractional order 3-D Chen system, chaotic nature is explained. Abstract The purpose of the present study is to examine the impact of parental socioeconomic status on pupils’ achievement in secondary school Mathematics. The population of the study consists of class nine students studying in different secondary and higher secondary schools of Karbi Anglong district of Assam state in India. 900 students of 30 different schools and their parents participated in the survey and responded to the questionnaires. Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis technique is adopted to analyze collected data. The main objective of the study is to determine the relationship between parents’ socioeconomic status and its impact on the scholastic attainment of secondary school students in mathematics. The result of the analysis reveals that parents’ socioeconomic status has significant relationship with school learners’ academic achievement in mathematics.

REVIEW ON SECURE DATA MANAGEMENT USING FACE MORPHING

Abstract We proposed an image morphing based method for information embedding. The basic idea is to hide a secrete data into a morphed image which is obtained from the secrete image and another reference image. To make this method practically useful, it is essential to produce natural morphed images. This is a necessary condition conceal the existence of the secret image. To produce natural morphed images, we should select a proper feature point set (FPS) for morphing. This is a monotonous work if we do it manually, because the number of possible FPSs is very large. To solve the problem more efficiently, we adopted proposed interactive algorithm in this study and conducted experiments for generating morphed images. Results show that, if we provide a relatively good initial FPS, proposed interactive algorithm can fine-tune the FPS, and produce more natural images with limited number of iteration.

Abstract The Multi-scale exposure fusion technique is an efficient image enhancement for a high dynamic range (HDR) scene. Several fusion algorithms have been introduced in recent years to combine significant data from various input images into a single fused image. In view of the problems of irregular exposure in the image acquisition and the severe loss of particulars in the conventional multi-exposure image fusion algorithms. The basic idea of the exposure fusion is to retain details in both quite dark and relatively bright regions without representation of HDR image and tone mapping step. The proposed algorithm better preserves the details in the most bright and dark regions of the HDR scene. This paper proposes a weighted technique to multi- exposure image fusion to better retain details, considering features like local contrast, exposure brightness and color information. To eliminate the noise and interference, using recursive filter. Moreover, the proposed method is quite fast and it can be used directly for most consumer cameras. Experimental results shows that the proposed method is superior in terms of subjective and objective analysis.

IoT Based Smart Shopping System Using RFID and Zigbee Technology

Abstract Now a days IoT is changing human life easy by connecting things together. One of the IoT application is Smart Shopping. A super market or shopping mall is a place where people buy products for their regular use. At malls there will be huge rush especially on holidays and weekends. If a customer buys few products, he/she has to wait in queue to get their products scanned using barcode technology. It consumes more time and man power is required to scan each and every product. In this paper I propose a Smart Shopping System using RFID and Zigbee technology which reduces time and man power. RFID technology is used to automatically identify the products and Zigbee technology is used to communicate wirelessly between Shopping Cart and Server. In Smart Shopping System an RFID tag is attached to every product and a Shopping Cart is equipped with an RFID reader. When a product is placed in cart, it automatically scans the product and displays the details of product on the LCD screen which is attached to cart. Each time a product is added in the cart the cost of products is added and displayed on screen. Hence billing is made at the shopping cart itself. After purchasing all the products the customer pays the bill and leaves the mall.

Above all, the biggest constraint has been to achieve all these with reduced design time. Optimization techniques are useful in validation and optimizing the design to get new size and shape. These techniques surely will reduce the design time, when compared to the experimental testing. In this project an Automotive engine mounting bracket is selected for analysis; there will be four mounting brackets to mount the engine on chassis. This is a very important component as the product market life is reducing and there is a need to get more new and better designs with less time to decrease the cost and at the same time increase the stiffness to mass ratio and performance. In this project I have reduced the mass in 0.34kgs per component and as per the cost wise in the year 375000 Rupees saved.

Abstract The objective of this contribution is to exist a numerical simulation technique to model the collision of particles in a plane using object oriented procedures. This approach is based on the second law of Newton for the translational motion of each particle in the granular material. This comprises a possession track of all forces acting on each particle at every time-step. The back-ground version of DEM and time integration algorithm are established and executed into C++ code. A simple test is regarding the application of time- integration algorithm by particle-particle interaction for which analytical expression exist. In this paper elastic force due to particle – particle contact and particle – wall contact on identical spherical particles are investigated.

Synthesis and Characterization of Gold Nanoparticles (Au-NPs) using aqueous extract of Lemongrass

Abstract Biological method was used to synthesize gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) using HAuCl4, double distilled water (D.D.W), and lemongrass extract. The change in the color of the solution from yellow to red, after aqueous lemongrass extract was added, indicated the formation of Au-NPs. Different techniques were used to characterize the prepared Au-NPs. The X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy were used to analyse the structural properties of the Au-NPs. The crystallite size of Au-NPs was found to be 12nm using the Debye–Scherrer’s formula. TEM analysis was used to examine the triangular and spherical shaped Au-NPs, and the average particle size was found to be 13 nm. The optical properties of the nanoparticles were analysed using the photoluminescence emission (PL) spectroscopy and UV–visible absorption spectroscopy. An absorption peak at 543 nm was obtained from the analysis. The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was used to investigate the functional groups in the leaves of the lemongrass that are responsible for reducing the gold ions to Au-NPs, and stabilizing the nanoparticles.

STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF QUARTZ POWDER ON COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH IN ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE

Abstract Concrete is the most predominantly used engineering material in construction industry because of its strength, durability and less cost when compared to other construction materials. During the past few years Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) is one of the emerging high tech building material which exhibit excellent performance and generate economic benefit. UHPC varies from the traditional concrete due to no coarse aggregate present in it , contains only the fine materials like quartz powder, quartz sand, silica fume. The present study focuses on UHPC with compressive strength greater than 170Mpa by varying the percentage of quartz powder by the weight of cement.. To improve the micro structural properties of UHPC and to accelerate the pozzolanic reaction between silica fume and quartz powder thermal curing was done. Cube specimens of 70.6mm 70.6mm 70.6mm size were casted and at the age of third day exposed to a temperature of 200 in oven curing for a time period of 24, 48 and 72 hours followed with water curing up to 28 days. The percentage changing of quartz powder in UHPC results the compressive strength ranges from 140MPa to 175MPa . From these study it was observed that the variation of quartz powder and the time span of temperature curing affects the compressive strength. Finally, the compressive strength of UHPC with175MPa was achieved at 40% of quartz powder by the weight of cement was used with 48 hours thermally cured at 200◦c.

CORROSION INHIBITION OF ZINC METAL IN ACID MEDIUM BY USING 2-ETHYL IMIDAZOLE

Abstract The corrosion inhibition effect of zinc metal in 1M Hydrochloric acid by 2-ethyl imidazole has been evaluated at room temperature using weight loss, gasometry methods. The corrosion inhibition efficiency increases with increase in concentration of an inhibitor. The corrosion rate decreases when increase in concentration of inhibitor. This is due to at the higher concentration of inhibitor solution which blocks the active site of a zinc metal and a protective film is formed over the zinc metal surface. This is further confirmed by surface analysis technique like scanning electron microscopy. Surface analysis of polished, corroded and inhibitor zinc metal surface has been evaluated by SEM.

Abstract Concrete production by replacing conventional CA and FA with crushed waste Nagalooty stone as CA and FA (Other than granite – OTG) and also replacing cement with fly ash up to 30% in traditional concrete of M25 grade in 20 combinations of mix proportions in different percentages. The main aim and objective behind the research is to reduce the production cost of cement concrete and also to clear landfills by utilizing abundantly available waste stones in Nagalooty in Nandikotkur near Kurnool and also to reduce sand usage in concrete keeping in view of ground water table and environmental conditions. For finding the fresh properties, slump cone test was carried and for finding hardened properties, Compressive strength test was conducted to determine the cube compressive strength. In this experiment natural aggregates are replaced by Nagalooti waste stone aggregates in proportion of 0,25,50,75,100% and also cement is replaced with flyash by 0,10,20,30%.

Time plots and phase portraits are analyzed under suitable conditions. Numerical examples are used to verify the stability results.

Abstract This study investigates the usage of artificial aggregates made with bagasse ash, which is a by-product of bagasse cogeneration power industries where pulped sugar cane is used as a burning element and the final residue can be obtained in the form of fine powder. An attempt is made to produce light weight pelletized bagasse ash aggregates by pelletization technique. The usage of Bagasse ash aggregate in concrete as a partial replacement of natural aggregate has been examined. The concrete so produced is light weight in nature and the development of such concrete with light weight pelletized bagasse ash aggregates is to minimize the conventional aggregate which results in decreasing the self weight of the concrete along with to increase the efficiency of concrete as a structural material. In this Investigation M25 grade concrete with replacement of natural coarse aggregates by (0%, 20%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) bagasse ash aggregate is studied. The effect on strength properties such as compressive strength of cubes, spilt tensile strength of cylinders, flexural strength of beams, modulus of elasticity and in-plane shear strength through mode-II fracture test are studied.

Mechanical Characterization of 37 Micron Sized B4C Particulates Reinforced Al7475Alloy Composites

Abstract In the current study, an investigation made on fabrication of 37 micron B4C particles reinforced Al7475 alloy composites and evaluation of mechanical properties. Al7475-2, 4 and 6 wt. % of B4C composites were synthesized by liquid stir casting process. Microstructural characterization was carried out by using scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectroscope. Prepared composites were evaluated for mechanical properties as per ASTM standards. Scanning electron micro photographs revealed the distribution of B4C particulates in the Al matrix and were confirmed by EDS analysis. Further, B4C particulates reinforced composites were shown more enhanced hardness, ultimate tensile strength and yield strength as compared to Al7475 alloy. Ductility of Al7475 alloy was decreased with addition hard ceramic particles.

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON DURABILITY OF GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE BY REPLACEMENT OF SAND WITH M-SAND

Abstract Concrete is the most common material for construction all over the world. The demand for concrete as a construction material leads to the increase of demand for Portland cement. Geo-polymer is an eco-friendly binding material alternative to ordinary Portland cement. Geo-polymer concrete is obtained by mixing the ingredients such as sodium hydroxide solution, sodium silicate solution (NaOH and Na2SiO3),or potassium hydroxide, potassium silicate solutions (KOH and K2Sio3)fly ash, grounded granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) and, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate and cured suitably. The blend of sodium hydroxide solution and sodium silicate solution is termed as alkaline liquid. This study presents an investigation deals with Geo-polymer concrete by replacing of fine aggregate material witch using the M-Sand. Complete 100% replacement of natural sand witch M-Sand and compare the results witch GPC natural sand and GPC witch M-Sand and its durability. When exposed to sulphate, and acidic environment and comparison were made with normal Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) concrete. In total four tests were conducted to determine acid and sulphate resistance of geo polymer concrete witch M-Sand. The tests involved immersion for a period of 30 to 60 days into 5% solution of sodium sulphate, 5% solution of magnesium sulphate, 5% solution of sulphuric acid and 5% solution of phosphoric acid. The evolution of weight loss and compressive strength loss were studied. The most significant degradation of compressive strength and weight were determined in 5% of acid solution. The least strengths variation and weight loss were found in the 5% of sulphate solution. The OPC concrete more deteriorated in acid as well as in sulphate solution in compared with geo-polymer concrete, thus geo-polymer concrete is more durable than the OPC concrete.

Abstract Generally the domestic VCRS system uses bare tube as condenser, but with this the heat transfer rate is not up to the optimum level.For achieving better heat transfer rates different shapes and geometry of tubes can be used.one of this is the coil condenser . A coil condenser is preferred in many applications due to its compact structure, larger heat transfer area and higher heat transfer capability. To make it more effective a tapered coil condenser is used. Several researches have also indicated that heat transfer rate in coiled tube are superior to straight tube due to complex flow pattern exist inside coil pipe. The concept behind compact heat exchanger is to decrease size and increase heat load which is the feature of coil heat exchanger. Though refrigerant R-134a is better in performance, it is an hydro fluoro carbon which has more global warming potential and ozone depletion potential. So, it is not fit for future use, therefore there is a need for alternative refrigerant. The alternative can be hydrocarbons (R600a-iso butane, R290 propane,R600-butane and mixture of R290&R600 etc.) In this research work a 180L capacity refrigerator equipped with tapered coil condenser working on hydro carbon is analysed. Finally it is observed that the COP of the tapered coil condenser coil refrigerator is more while comparing with the existing system. The performance parameters such as refrigerating effect, mass flow rate, compressor work and coefficient of performance are calculated. Finally the performances of both the existing system and proposed system are \ compared

A STUDY OF HYDRAULIC WAVE BREAKERS

Abstract Breaking of waves occurs on beaches and this result in erosion of beach which leads to long term littoral drift and a serious impact on coastline. Coastal structures designed for this purpose are usually quite massive and expensive to build. In the present study a special type of wave breaker known as hydraulic wave breaker was used to break waves so that wave dissipate the energy. A Hydraulic or Waterjet Wave breaker is formed by- forcing water through a series of nozzles mounted on a manifold pipe. The primary objective was to measure wave attenuation. It was found that waves with shorter wave lengths are easy to break; as anticipated the attenuation decreased for increase in water depth; Steep waves were easy to break; the manifold is placed in two different directions; one is placing on the bed and other placing opposite to incident wave on the surface level and the latter has more transmission. The average KT value observed for all such set of experiments when manifold placed bottom was found to be 0.423 i.e. the average breaking of waves was found to be 57.69 %. But when jet placed in opposite direction the average value of KT was found to be 0.309 i.e. the average breaking of waves is found to 69.14%. The increase in the percentage of breaking for the jet placed in opposite direction with respect to jet placed bottom is found to be 19.84 %.

A STUDY ON PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE BY REPLACING CEMENT WITH MARBLE POWDER AND FLY ASH

Abstract In this study, marble powder and fly ash are replaced with cement. Since Marble powder and Fly ash is a developing composite material that will allow the concrete industry to optimize usage of material, generate economic benefits and built structures that will be strong, durable, and sensitive to environment. Marble powder is a byproduct obtained during quarrying process of parent marble rock. The potential use of marble powder can be ideal choice for substituting in a cementitious binder due to presence of high calcium oxide content of more than 50%. Fly ash is another major byproduct of thermal power plant after combustion of coal at high temperature. Dumping these waste materials to the environment directly can cause serious environmental problems. So, using these materials in an economic way is recommended. In this project test results were obtained for M30 by replacing cement with marble powder at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% by volume has been made. The results were also determined by keeping fly ash constant at 10% which was accepted by Indian Standard and marble powder content was increased by 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% All specimens were cured for 7,14, and 28 days before performing the lab tests such as compressive strength test and split tensile test. Further, the optimistic percentage of marble powder and fly ash was also determined

REPLACEMENT OF CLAY BRICKS BY AUTOCLAVED AERATED CONCRETE BLOCKS IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Abstract In the history of building construction brick is one of the oldest of all material. Bricks are very widely use building material because cost of bricks is very cheap and manufacturing of bricks is very simple. Generally, we use bricks in partition wall and main wall of building. strength of brick is satisfactory for building construction. Brick masonry is an easy masonry technique as compare to stone masonry technique but we required more new technology in construction work. Brick masonry and stone masonry take more time in construction of wall and other components of building. So, we required new masonry technique for building construction. In now days most of countries use AAC Blocks instead of bricks. Autoclaved Aerated Concrete block is a light weight concrete block and weight of AAC block is 1/5 of concrete block so dead load of wall and other components is obviously decrease. AAC block have more air bags so weight of AAC block is very less as compared to ordinary concrete block. Basic material of AAC block is widely available in nature. these include sand, cement, lime, fly ash, gypsum, aluminium powder and expansion agent. Autoclaved aerated concrete block contains 70% to 80% air and this air content change accordingly strength and density of AAC blocks.in the last decade, construction industry has been conducting various researches on the utilization of easily available raw materials in construction. AAC blocks are very good material for construction site because AAC blocks are energy efficient and environmentally friendly concrete. Abstract Flat slabs are becoming popular now a days as they are aesthetically good in appearance and ease of construction. But they are prone to earthquake and wind forces. Lateral resisting system has to be used to increase the strength, stiffness and lateral force resistant of the structure. In the present study four different models are taken for study and those are flat slab bare frame, flat slab with shear wall, infill wall and steel bracings. They are placed in one opposite direction for study in particular direction. Response spectrum analysis are conducted on different models to study the dynamic behaviour. Based on this analysis time period, base shear, lateral displacement and storey drift is compared. Pushover analysis is also studied on different models to known the weak zones in the building. Flat slab with shear wall model is stiffer and can resist lateral force effectively

Comparison of Volumetric Properties of Stone Matrix Asphalt by Using Different Fillers

Abstract Highway construction involves huge investment in men and material. There are many alternatives for improving the stability and efficiency of pavement structure. Asphalt material and mixture are used to improve the durability and performance of pavements. SMA requires stabilizing additives composed of cellulose fibres to prevent drain down of mix. SMA consists of 70-80% of coarse aggregates
that interlocks to form a skeleton structure which resists permanent deformation. The main objective of this work is to compare the volumetric properties of SMA at 5-7% of bitumen content by using fillers like stone dust, coconut shell charcoal, concrete dust and coir as a fibre which possesses resistance to crushing, surface moisture, resistance to freezing, light weight, adsorption, synthetic resin glues which is most important for pavement of roads. Therefore its volumetric properties like stability, flow and air voids ratio
which are obtained that are compared with properties of different types of fillers. From that we can establish a perfect combination of filler material for SMA, so that it can be useful as a substitute of filler in reducing cost, improving the quality and durability of pavement structure.

It is generally acknowledged that steel fibres are added to advance the toughness, abrasion resistance and impact strength. In this work, the mechanical and durability properties of cement mortar by adding 1%, 2% steel fibres by weight of cement and sand are deliberate and compared with the control mix.

Leaching Characteristics of Heavy Metals (Pb, Cr and Cd)

Abstract Column flow through leaching experiments reacting heavy metal solution with sand, slit and clay soil samples were performed to study heavy metal attenuation by three soils with different physical, chemical and mineralogical properties. Saturated solute transport experiments were conducted using one small and one large column packed with three different types of soil. This study examined the leaching experiments of three soils in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) column. A column experiment is very useful apparatus that can be used to study the migration and attenuation of heavy metals through a compacted soil column. Prior to testing all three soils were thoroughly characterized for their physical, chemical and mineralogical properties. All soil columns were permeated using laboratory made solution with concentration of heavy metals 500mg/l at pH 5.0. The experiments results were analysed in terms of breakthrough curves. The breakthrough curves shows that the clay sample has better adsorption capacity on heavy metals as compared to sand and silt soils. Less retention means high concentration of heavy metals was detected in the pore fluid. The order of mobility of heavy metals through leaching column experiment in case of sand and silt was Cr>Cd>Pb and in case of clay the order of mobility was Pb>Cd>Cr.
The test results also reflect the influence of soil origin in adsorption of heavy metals, where soil characteristics and surface properties contribute very significantly to the adsorption of heavy metals

Abstract Data Mining is a process of extracting the data from a large set of any raw data. Data Mining is one of the well-known technology that is used in the Health Organization. Data mining techniques plays an important role for the Prediction of the disease by which the health care professionals can diagnosis the diseases easily. Heart Disease is caused when the normal functionality of a heart is affected. There are various factors that affect the functionality of the heart. In this paper, the different data mining techniques are used to predict the heart disease. Data Mining techniques like Neural Network, Decision Tree and Naives Bayes Theorem are used. The main goal of this paper is to analyze the various data mining techniques used, comparing these techniques, to achieve the better accuracy of the techniques and to identify the risk level of the heart disease.
