Study of Air Pollution level in Coimbatore 2018-2019

Abstract Coimbatore, notorious for its air pollution due to various manufacturing industries, is all set to get a first-of-its-kind
air monitoring system soon. The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), which is the nodal agency, plans to
set up the Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS) in the Coimbatore SIDCO branch office,
Kurichi, at a cost of Rs.2crore. Air monitoring stations at Gandhi Park, District Collectors office and SIDCO estate.
As the ammonia and dust levels in SIDCO Industrial estate have been exceeding permissible levels, the pollution
mangers felt the need to install a CAAQMS here. “The 24-hour-real time monitoring system would check for excess
levels of carcinogenic chemicals including dioxides of Nitrogen and Sulphur. It would also monitor the PM 2.5 and
PM 10 levels, which are highly hazardous to public health,” said a senior official of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control
Board. The following study reports gives a detail report on study of air pollution level in Coimbatore during the year
2018-2019.

Abstract Smart city is a mutable term. The objectives, characteristics of Smart Cities changes according to the
country, its geographical condition, resources available[1]. Smart cities concept is mushrooming gradually around the
globe[1].India is also participating in the development of smart city by promoting Smart Cities Mission. Smart City have
many attributes depends upon country to country. One of the major attribute of Smart Cities is Smart Governance. Smart
Government uses ICT to interact with the citizens, enhancing public services[2].Smart Governance that uses ICT with an
aim to maintain sustainability is termed as Sustainable Smart Governance. In this paper, we address some of the
challenges faced by India to foster Sustainable Smart Governance. We presented an Indian outlook of sustainable Smart
Governance.

Abstract With the ever-increasing attacks on data and networks, every organization needs to protect, process, and
transmit their data securely through various cryptographic means. One such cryptographic algorithm is RSA (Rivest,
Shamir & Adleman). Nowadays, RSA is widely used as it a public – key cryptosystem, which generates 2 keys: Public
Key and Private key and requires both to decrypt data. Through this paper, the author has suggested afast and
efficient approach of the implementing the algorithm. Furthermore, the performance of both classical and proposed
method has been compared using various bit sizes.

WEB CONTROLLED SMART SWITCH

Abstract A Smart switch is the most basic building block of a home automation system. Web controlled smart switches
offers an accessibility of controlling any electrical appliance, using the smart phone or web browser, with the connectivity
capabilities of Raspberry Pi 3 development kit. Such Smart switches ease our toiling life and aim to catch up with fast
growing metropolitan life. This paper presents the design and implementation of Web controlled smart switch using a
Raspberry Pi3 development kit and Relay module employing a TOR web browser. A smart switch for any electrical
appliance can be controlled from anywhere in the world as long as there is an internet connection.

Abstract Smart systems and automated systems are two buzzwords in current trend of technology. However while these
systems exist and are being built to suit the needs of the consumer andindustry it is important that they are energy
efficient as well. This paper demonstrates design and implementation of an adaptive lighting based smart system
implemented on an embedded system based on Arduino which would respond based on the inputs it receives from its
environment such as the amount of lighting received on LDR and presence of human in that particular area detected by
PIR sensor where it is deployed. Such a system will overcome the drawbacks of manual control and energy wastage.

Abstract Twitter is a very popular social media platform to
address the problems faced by both common people as well as
popular people. In recent years, me too movement has taken
all over the twitter by the people belonging to all classes. This
paper has been written to display the various important
segments on this movement which might help the authorities
to reduce the sexual crime rate. The purpose of this paper is
to highlight the variations observed different segments of the
Me-Too movement tweets over a month. This paper also
shows the most popular tweets within the time period and the
occupations having the maximum number of sufferers. For
these predictions, Python libraries, Mongo DB and Map
Reduce function has been used for analysis and visualization
of the results.

“Mini Surveillance Quad-copter”

Abstract Conventional drones are not only large in size but also heavy and high-priced. We aim to develop a small
quadcopter, with fewer payloads which is not only cheap but also can be used for short time surveillance with features like
obstacle detection and failure resistance. Our aspiration is to design a light weight, mini sized quadcopter system for
surveillance purposes. We aim to attain obstacle avoidance apart from designing a safe landing mechanism during
emergency/ system failure to achieve better performance. We intend to accomplish the desired goals by integrating IR
sensors in our drone along with studying battery life versus flight time study for a fail-safe operation.

Fortifying Cloud through Steganography

Abstract The rising trends of computer technology in collaboration with Internet services has boosted the aeon of
cloud computing. But with everything positive comes something negative. As cloud computing is an asset for the IT
industry as well as for the individual users, but it is also a liability as it leads to various security issues. Till date many
cryptographic techniques are being used to secure the data at rest. The strongest cryptographic algorithms which are
being used are AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), DES (Data Encryption standard) for symmetric encryption,
ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) and RSA for asymmetric encryption. For ensuring data security of the stored data,
we have proposed to secure the data with stereography instead of regular cryptographic techniques from unauthorized
access. This scheme is expected to work perfectly for storing the data at cloud and successfully retrieving the data.

Clickstream Based Parallel Focused Web Crawler

Abstract Due to the increasing size of the Web each day, there is always an ever-increasing need for Web crawlers
and searching algorithms that provide efficient scalable crawling and searching mechanisms for indexing the Web.
Due to the voluminous size of the Web, single process crawlers are no longer enough and linkbased metrics, no longer
produce a properly ordered answered set. Traditional linkbased metrics in a parallel crawling environment come with
a lot of communication overhead, which reduces the speed of the crawler and consumes unnecessary bandwidth. The
aim of this paper is to propose an architecture for parallel crawler that relies on content-based metrics for
determining page importance. The page importance is calculated using different weights assigned to each metric
collected using the clickstream based on their relevance to the context. The experiment was done on a blog keeping in
mind, the politeness factor in the crawling process to ensure that the process did not affect the normal functioning of
the website.

“Real Time Notice Board: An IOT application”

Abstract In this paper, we propose a secure and Smart Notice Board with real time data that can be accessedusing an
Android device with which we can display message on it. In a basic setup, a notice board contains information which has
to be updated regularly. This becomes tiresome and requires daily maintenance for everyone.The existing smart notice
boards do not provide real- time data and have the support of only Bluetooth connectivity, whereas our proposed approach
will be having Wi-Fi accessibility that will overcome geographical limitations as well as provide authorization features. In
our proposed approach, the receiver device receives the information from the mobile device that will to be sent to a
Raspberry Pi3B+ Module. The Raspberry Pi3B+ uses various codes and displays the message on a LCD screen. This can
be used in public spaces such as offices, railway stations or airports where people gather in large numbers and who need
information in a reliable and secure manner.

Low-cost building material andbuilding techniques for Ethiopia

Abstract One of the core infrastructure elements in a smart city as per the Smart City Initiative is affordable
housing, especially for the poor. Another key element is the sustainable environment. Attainment of these
elements calls for low-cost solutions to building materials and building techniques. The former typically consists
of locally sourced materials, while the latter requires prefabricated elements for construction; thus, ensuring
lower environmental footprints coupled with low-cost, thus enabling housing for the poor. Unfortunately, the
conventional construction techniques employ conventional materials and are neither environment, nor poorfriendly. The developing and underdeveloped countries typically tend to use the conventional building materials
along with conventional construction techniques. This results in high cost of construction and low availability of
affordable housing. This study investigates a number of building materials and construction technologies, with
specific emphasis on Ethiopia- a developing African country with a large population and huge lack of affordable
housing. The aim of the current work is to identify low-cost building materials and low-cost, mass-scale
construction technologies for developing economies like Ethiopia, with broader applicability to African and
Asian countries.

Abstract The Smart City innovation has attracted relevant consideration for the urban growth over the last few years.
While the time seems ripe to conclude that such initiatives have a constructive impact on urban growth, it is quiet
unclear about its realization when looking at the usage of electric and electronic devices through Internet of
Things(IoT) in typical Smart City projects. On one side sustainable manufacturing and consumption of electric and
electronic goods has become a norm in recent years, with the awareness of various laws and regulations to protect
environment, on the other side realization of Smart city innovation is exposing the environment and human health to
more and more hazardous impact of E-Waste. In fact, a Smart City project imply the involvement of local and global
companies, local public authorities and the people with the aim to translate technological solutions to the local needs
of the people. This paper attempts to develop a conceptual model to understand the coalition between the technology
and the modern urbanization to integrate social and environment aspects for making both the smart cities as well as
the human life sustainable.

Abstract Smart cities utilize information and communication technology (ICT) to collect urban data and improve
quality, performance and management of urban services, thereby contributing to urban sustainability. The
technological development is currently based on the market-led approach focusing on creating business-friendly
environments and citizen centric service delivery but it should also be aimed at improving sustainability. Smart
technology methods for gathering, connecting and utilising urban data should be developed aiming sustainable
development and not just aiming cost efficiencies. Cities should initiate to be partners and enablers in ICT
development, regulation, support and implementation which will also reduce the risk of private companies controlling
the data of government and citizens. Bad planning and implementation of smart city can cause technological
exclusion of people without ICT access, misuse of data, violation of citizens’ privacy rights and prioritization of
business interests neglecting social and environmental issues. Policies and strategies should be formulated to target
smart cities with urban sustainability considering social, economic and environmental sectors.

Performance Analysis of Classification Models for Prediction of Benign and Malignant Mammographic Masses

Abstract About 1.7M new breast cancer cases were diagnosed in 2012. As of 2018, nearly 12.4% women in US are
expected to develop invasive breast cancer over their lifetime. Mammography has always been the most effective
technique for the screening of breast cancer. But, the low positive predictive value of breast biopsy which results from
the interpretation of mammogram leads to nearly 70% unnecessary biopsies with benign outcomes. To solve this
problem, supervised machine learning classification algorithms can be applied to develop a machine learning models
which can predict the rigorousness of a mammographic mass with the help of BI-RADS attributes and the patient’s
age.
830 records with a total of 6 attributes were recorded in the dataset to check the nature of mammographic
masses. The study investigates 6 different classification models: Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes, Support Vector
Machine, Decision Tree, Random Forest and Artificial Neural Networks. Each model is evaluated on the basis of
confusion matrix, standard metrics of Accuracy, Precision, Recall and F-measure.
The research work was aimed to assess performance of various classification algorithms introduced in recent
years to design a predictive model for breast cancer identification on data obtained from full field digital
mammograms.

pressure coupled with uncontrolled migration and worsening availability of resources will not be faced by the coming
generations. Aiming this “The Smart Cities Mission” has been launched by the Government of India, to produce 100

IoT Based Smart Parking System with API Access

Abstract The currently employed systems to monitor parking can provide information limited to the location and
number of parking spaces available in a single parking space on arrival of the user. With the advances in
infrastructure in India and rapid urbanization, people are now travelling more than ever. While there have been
strides to improve public transportation systems, it simply can't sustain the population of our country. After arrival at
a destination, users must indulge in the struggle to find a suitable parking spot which is both time consuming and
leads to road congestion. This also contributes to the increased C02 emissions due to unnecessary idling of cars. In
order to solve the parking problem, many people will search for the nearest parking lot and navigate themselves using
the ever reliable Google maps but this isn't a robust solution.
Consequently, this paper reviews newer methods to (i) upload, (ii) receive and (iii) process real-time specimen data
from multiple parking spaces en route to the user's destination aiding to mobilise traffic. This system is implemented
by using Internet of Things (IoT) features integrated with GoogleMaps APIs developed on personal mobile devices.
The review further discusses a method to optimize the flow of parking traffic and help the user localise a parking
space before arriving at their destination. The users can also know their respective parking duration and effectively
budget the parking cost.

DEPBOT: THE ANTI-DEPRESSION BOT

Abstract This research paper presents the idea of using conversational bots (chatbot) to analyse, asses and cure the
people who are suffering from depression. Chatbots are conversational agents that uses a set of known knowledge base to
help the people suffering from depression. A bot can either be an open or close ended chatbot, in this case we are going to
useanopen ended bot to maintain the conversation as natural as possible. Any person can ask a question in natural
language (Here it’s English) and the bot uses Artificial Intelligence in the form of machine learning to analyze the
problem and overcome it.
The DEPBOT would be deployed on a website as a web application and mobile application. The bot will be tested several
times and the data would be fed to bot by conducting surveys in the initial stage. Many chatbots have been created and all
have a certain degree of success but none of the bot deals with normal life problems.

Futuristic Method for detecting Environmental Stress in upcoming Smart Cities

Abstract Urban Heat Island has been one of the factors which can give an insight to the Environment Stress in any
region due to the increased urbanisation and other human activities. With the help of LANDSAT satellite images and
the retrieval of Land surface temperature. Different methods for LST retrieval have been mention with their accuracy
and Mono-window Algorithm has been discussed in details. Correlation with NDVI and NDBI has been explained,
further the cooling effect of water and vegetation over an area has been discussed with their effective area of
influence. A strong relation has been established on how UHI effect can be used to identify the area under
environmental stress, and can help Area Development Authority in better planning of a city, this provides an easy to
use tool for planning the upcoming smart cities whereby decreasing the energy consumption and regulating the
industry.

Abstract Everyone nowadays is familiar with the word „smart‟ as all entities, objects and institutions, not to speak
of human beings, get “smarter”day by day. This move towards “smartness”is most evident in the domain of
infrastructure, particularly the transport system and other utilities and assets of infrastructure. Among all these smart
entities, a “smart city”is an oft-heard entity with which citizens are quite familiar. And people in India are no
exception. In the current article, authors attempt to deliberate on what makes a city „smart‟. This issue is deliberated
upon specifically in the context of two chosen Indian cities. First part of the paper discusses a few universal
parameters of smart cities with the help of a few successful international examples. In the second part of the paper we
present perceptions about „smartness‟of two progressive and aspirational cities, namely Bhubaneswar and Jaipur in
India based on a small-scale sample survey of their residents and conclude with some final remarks. The paper is an
humble beginning towards exploring aspects, issues and needs of „smart‟cities in the context of Indian cities like
Jaipur and Bhubaneswar. It is hoped to spur reflection on the right approach towards „smartening up‟India n cities.
