INFULENCE OF BACTERIA FOR CRACK REPAIRING IN SELF HEALING CONCRETE

Abstract Cement was replaced with three percentages 30%, 40% and 50% with GGBS by weight and 20% fly ash, with a cells concentration of 106cells/ml of bacteria were used in making the concrete mixes. The tests were performed at the age of 7, 28 and 91 day. Concrete crack up to 0.5 mm width can be healed in 30 days’ time period which shows effective solution in cracks. Oxygen is the agent that can induce corrosion but the bacteria will feed oxygen so the corrosion can be also reduce. The bacterial self-healing is novel approach towards the producing durable and crack free concrete by using the Industrial waste which leads to reduce the cost of repairing the cracks by conventional methods and reduce the chances to again development of crack in concrete. For this process bacteria’s such as B.subtiles, B. spharies and B. pasteurii etc.

EFFECT OF VARIATION OF SHEAR REINFORCEMENT IN REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAM

Abstract Reinforced concrete is one of the most important building materials and is widely used in many types of engineering structures. To predict exact behavior of element detailed properties and behavior of RC elements under different Reinforcement conditions is needed. In present study investigated Crack identification of beam using various shear reinforcement such as stirrups in vertical, inclined and combinations form. So in this study three type of beam, total nine beam casted. Laboratory tests are carried out on a beam dimension 750mm x 150mm x 150mm of M25 grade of concrete for reinforced cement concrete beam. The variable of the investigation ratio of shear span to effectivedepth (av/d) is constant in all beams. The specimen was water cured for 28 days and tested with threepointload. Beam are loaded under three-point loading by usinguniversal testingmachine. The diagonal crack width was measure by micrometer crack measure instruments.Crack width of beam compared with the maximum load found during crack formation on RCC beam.

2-D STRESS ANALYSIS OF KOYNA DAM BY FINETE ELEMENT METHOD

Abstract Numerical methods allied to powerful digital computers give to-day the possibility of solving almost all well defined physical problems with desirable accuracy. The finite element process of discretizing and approximating continuous problems has proved itself to be one of the most general and useful procedures. In the design of gravity dam‟s gravity method of analysis is widely used all over the world the gravity method of analysis of dams is based on many simplifying assumptions and cannot take into actual site conditions. Finite element method used in analysis of gravity dam because it gives more accurate results than conventional methods. In my thesis two dimensional finite element analyses is carried out because 1) in three dimensional analysis some loads are distributed to dam abutments so stresses are less compared to two dimensional analysis. 2) three- dimensional analysis is costlier, tedious than two dimensional analyses.

FEM requires the domain of interest be subdivided into a mesh of discrete elements or sub-domains. The accuracy and the expense of the calculations are strongly affected by the “goodness” of the underlying mesh.

Ideal mesh is characterized by finer elements at curved boundaries and also where stress concentration is high. To develop finer elements and data preparation for smaller elements by manually is very tedious, time consuming and error prone. Automatic mesh generation is used for creation of a well- conditioned mesh in two dimensions with a minimum of user interaction using isoperimetric quadrilateral elements.

Present work deals with the finite element method and it has been studied for both plain stress and plain strain condition. The convergence of the problem is checked with three different mesh types of 36 elements, 73 elements and 160 elements for all the cases stresses are worked out. The graph has been plotted for the normal and shear stresses. According to IS: 6512-1984 the analysis is carried for load combinations A and B. for all load combinations according to saint venant‟s principle foundation interaction of dam is included in stress analysis. Analysis is done for including and excluding the foundation interaction. It is observed that the stresses including foundation interaction are more compared with the stresses when foundation interaction not considered. A programme in „C‟ for analysis and BASIC programme for the mesh generation is used in the present thesis.

IMPACT ON CONCRETE BY PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF COARSE AGGREGATE WITH RECYCLED PLASTIC GRANULES

Abstract How Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) can be used as a replacement for coarse aggregate in order to produce concrete cubes and cylinders is being researched and thus reported in this paper. The concrete material prepared by this process was manually experimented and treated by the process of compression and split tension. It is found that the strength of the plastic replaced by concrete because of compression and split tension can be compared to the conventional concrete. In this paper the study is aimed at how LDPE (in some certain amount) can increase the tensile strength to the concrete produced in order to reduce the fragility of the material previously used. This mixture of cubes and cylinders was subjected to compression and split tension in order to ascertain the parameter of strength. Hence the use of treated plastic wastes in concrete is not only beneficial but also helpful in disposal of plastic wastes, thus reducing the environmental pollution to a large extent. The concrete thus developed, can increase the strength of structures and hence reducing the various environmental hazards.

STRENGTH EFFICIENCY OF ZEOLITE CONCRETE WITH AGE

Abstract The utilization of supplementary cementitious materials is well accepted, because of the several improvements possible in the concrete and due to the overall economy. One such supplementary cementitious material is natural zeolite. There are large variations in physical and chemical composition in supplementary cementitious materials; it requires mix design method for their effective use in concrete. In this work, the concept of strength efficiency is applied as a measure of the relative strength performance of natural zeolite with ordinary Portland cement (OPC), and to quantify the 7 day & 28 day strength efficiency of zeolite in concrete at the various replacement levels from literature. Experimental data from literature indicate that the contribution of zeolite to the strength of concrete is not a constant value determined entirely by its physical and/ or chemical characteristics like cementitious compounds, fineness etc., but can also vary depending on the type of cement, water cement ratio, percentage of replacement and curing conditions. The “overall strength efficiency”(k) of zeolite was established through a “general efficiency factor”(ke), depending upon the age and a “percentage efficiency factor”(kp), depending upon the percentage of replacement, as was the case with a few other cementitious materials like fly ash and silica fume reported earlier.

Effect of Size of Model Pile Group Subjected to Eccentric and Inclined Loading

Abstract Pile foundation is used in many important structures and offshore structures. As we know, we normally design piles for axial forces but in some scenario we come across inclined or eccentric loads, for analysis which the current practice is to convert them in horizontal and vertical components or vertical load and moment. But from experiments we can see that this practice not exactly perfect solution. So in this investigation an effort is made to discover the effect of size of model pile group subjected to eccentric and inclined loading.

Experimental Investigation of Temperature in Drilling under Different Cutting Environment

Abstract In the present era of manufacturing most of the applications required drilling process. In the drilling process high temperature is generated due to the friction. To reduce the friction and control the temperature, cutting fluids are used. The use of excessive cutting fluids in machining has significantly improved. In this study, an experimental investigation on the effect of machining parameters and cutting environment on temperature when drilling duplex stainless steel AISI 2205 using high speed steel (HSS) tool with TiAlN coated tool were conducted. The cutting environment is dry, flood and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL). The machining parameters are speed and feed rate. In first experiment speed and feed remains constant and cutting environment varies but in second experiment combination of different cutting speed and feed has been taken for investigation of temperature. The drilling was done on the Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) and temperature is measured by k-type thermocouple. The LAB VIEW software is used for data acquisition system. The analysis of results was done by Taguchi’s method which shows that the optimum cutting parameters are cutting speed of 750 rpm, feed rate at.03 mm/rev and flood as cutting environment. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) shows that cutting environment has the highest percentage contribution among all the parameters and their interactions which affect the temperature in drilling of duplex stainless steel.

Study on Internet of Things: Applications

Abstract IoT (Internet of Things) can be defined as the integration of real-worlddevices with the internet as it helps in creating the connection between the existingdevices and Internet. IoT is the novel technology to make the computing devices sensory which otherwise are senseless .IoT provides the means to ensure communication among devices using the internet from different cohorts which require to use IP (Internet Protocol) addresses assigned to each device. The growth of the IoT is increasing at the greater pace with the advancement in the technology. The development of the IoTin anumber of fields has led to the development of various applications which include ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), smart home systems, intelligent shopping systems,etc. The primary idea of the IoT is to connect the previous and the new physical objects to the Internet. It can be estimated that by the year 2050, the total number of devices connected to the internetwill be around five times more than its users.Along with such advancements, this paper presents the review of major applications of IoT along with challenges, findings of previous researches and future work that can be carried based on the results that are achieved till now.

A STUDY ON FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE WITH FLY ASH

Abstract Today's world is observing the construction of very challenging and enormous civil engineering structures. But the concrete has only material is called upon to possess very high strength and the very sufficient work ability in the properties. Thus Researchers of the world are attempting to develop the high performance in concretes by using fibers and other of the admixtures in concrete up to certain limitations in the calculations. The has been high interest in the use of the fibers for the reinforcement of composites has increased during the couple several years. Also combination of the high strength also stiffness and the thermal resistance favorably characterizes thus the fibers are being used in this project.

Hence Polypropylene Fiber Reinforcement Concrete is embryonic .construction material who is can be described of having. The high mechanical strength, durability stiffness. By then utilization of PPF has the very concrete not only optimum utilization of materials is achieved but also the finances & costs are reduced.

A study on polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete with replacement of fly ash has been studied. M25 grade concrete is designed and fibers are mixed in varying percentage i.e., 0.5%,1%,1.5%,2%,2.5%, 3%. Fly ash also added with different percentage i.e., 10%,15% and 20%. Concrete cubes of size 22350 mm3 are casted and cured for twenty eight days and then tested for compressive strength in the test machine used.

AN IVESTIGATION ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND DAMAGE OF NORMAL CONCRETE AND MORTARS SUBJECTED TO MAGNESIUM SULPHATE ENVIRONMENT

Abstract Concrete, is one of the key construction material having good compressive and durable properties among others. Sulphate attack is one of the most important problems affecting concrete structures, especially Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO4) attack. An investigation on the mechanical properties and damage evolution of OPCC exposure to MgSO4 environment. Then I’m collected some information about sulphate and their concentrations in kadapa region, by reference of those concentrations I was prepared MgSO4 solution with different percentages like 1%, 3% and 5% and were casted specimens was exposed for a period of 7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days. There by parameters compressive strength test, NDT will be investigated at various erosion times of 7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days. NDT such as UPV and Rebound Hammer strength tests will be performed to evaluate the strength characteristics and also damage characteristics. A relationship between damage and UPV of OPCC was derived according to damage mechanics and a correlation between the damage exposed to sulphate environment by using UPV and Rebound Hammer test. The OPCC performance evaluation under MgSO4 environment exposure conditions will be done by studying relations. Finally correlated an relation between compressive strengths obtained from DT and NDT tests

TRIPLE BLENDING OF CEMENT CONCRETE WITH FLY ASH, RICE HUSK ASH, SUGARCANE BAGASSE ASH

Abstract Bagasse ash (BA), the residue obtained after the burning of sugarcane bagasse as a fuel, has nearly pozzolanic properties with the potential to use as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM). Use of Bagasse ash (BA) as a mineral admixture needs to be established, especially in India, where sugarcane cultivation is widespread, to reduce land required for its disposal and cement consumption in construction industry. Hence, to encourage commercial use of BA with minimum processing, an evaluation of the physical, chemical and morphological characteristics of a locally available BA and its effect, as SCM on properties of structural concrete was taken up.

This research work describes the feasibility of using the Fly Ash (FA) Rice Husk Ash (RHA) and Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) waste in concrete production as a partial replacement of cement. Present work deals with the effect on strength and mechanical properties of concrete using triple blending of cement concrete using FA, RHA and SCBA instead of cement. The cement hasbeen replaced by rice husk ash, accordingly in the range with 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% by weight. Concretemixture of M20 and M25 and M30, were produced, tested and compared in terms of compressive strengths with theConventional concrete. These tests were carried out to evaluate the mechanical properties for the test results of7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days for Compressive strengths and Tensile & Flexural Strengths at 28 days. The durability aspect of the samples for Acid attack,Alkaline attackand Sulphate attack wasalso tested. The result indicates that the FA, RHA and SCBA improvethe Compressive Strength and durability of triple blended concrete.

Matlab Implementation of Parallel Apriori Algorithm for Reduced Space Time Complexity

Abstract Data mining has gained wide spread usage & acceptance in the last decade. There are numerous tasks & fields in which data mining provides knowledge discovery solution one of the primary advents of data mining is determination of frequent of patterns or frequent patterns & their count. Another of data mining techniques are available for frequent pattern search but apriori algorithm is highly preferred & proved choice & caters to small as well as large data sets & database. This work is aimed at optimizing the time & space consumed by apriori algorithm without sacrificing the basic apriori construct by employing parallel computing services of matlab. Unlike other work carried to enhance apriori algorithm by modifying its iterations or traversal, our proposed system keeps the basic apriori proposal intact & enhance the apriori algorithm by using parallel computing to utilize all cores of the CPU or the network. The proposed work also support processing nodes spread over internet, thus various remote processing serves can handle users apriori search, thus improving user experience user modifier while monitoring apriori integrity.

RAIN SENSING AUTOMATIC CAR WIPER

Abstract Generally, working of a car wiper is based on the manual switching. In this mechanism, the driver has to switch ON the power button to energize the wiper. It is difficult for the driver to concentrate simultaneously on the driving and on the wiper. Though it is not much difficulty in normal conditions but it is very difficult in raining conditions and snowing conditions. To eliminate this difficulty an automatic wiper system with rain sensing technology is implemented. In this automatic wiper system, a rain sensor, a microcontroller and a driver integrated circuit (IC) is used to convert the manual operation into automatic operation. When water falls on the rain board of the rain sensor, the sensor sends the signal to the microcontroller regarding the data and then the microcontroller processes the data and energizes the driver IC to make the required motion. By taking the signal from the microcontroller the driver IC drives the servo motor of the wiper to clean the car glass. With these modifications, automatic cleaning of the car glass can be done without the involvement of the driver.

Design And Manufacturing of Automated Agricultural Irrigation System

Abstract This paper demonstrates the application of automatic irrigation system to the plants which helps in saving money and water. The entire system is controlled using micro controller which is programmed as giving the interrupt signal to the sprinkler. Soil moisture sensor, temperature sensor and humidity sensor are connected to internal ports of micro controller via comparator, whenever there is a change in Soil moisture level, temperature and humidity of the surroundings these sensors senses the change in temperature and humidity and gives an interrupt signal to the micro-controller and thus the centrifugal pump, sprinkler, foggier is activated.

Parametric Study of Cold Formed Steel Zee Sections

Abstract Theuse of cold formed steel is increasing rapidly around the world due to many advances in construction and manufacturing technologies and relevant standards. However, the structural behavior of these thin walled steel structures is characterized by a range of buckling modes such as local, distortional and global buckling. In this context a parametric study on parameters (i.e. l/d, d/t) such as web depth, thickness, flange width and span are being made onto analyses Z Sections to arrive at design strength criterion in bending.
ABAQUS and CUFSM are extensively used to perform Finite Element and Finite strip analysis of thin walled cold formed steel sections. The critical load values obtained from CUFSM are substituted in the DSM equations to arrive at the flexural capacity of the section. In ABAQUS loads are applied on the top flange of section where center of gravity is projected on to the top flange. The simply supported and fixed end conditions are considered. The results of ABAQUS simulation compared with the CUFSM found that the ABAQUS results are in good agreement with CUFSM. The ratio of design strength to yield strength is compared to find whether the section is economical and analyses to arrive at an optimum section has been performed.

Abstract Due to the day to day innovations and development in construction field, the use of natural aggregates is increased tremendously and at the same time, the production of solid wastes from the demolitions of constructions is also quite high. Because of these reasons the reuse of demolished constructional wastes like ceramic tile. And rebutted tyre waste came into the picture to reduce the solid waste and to reduce the scarcity of natural aggregates for making concrete. The ceramic waste crushed tiles were partially replaced in place of coarse aggregates by 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. In this present investigation the fine aggregate is replaced with two different type of materials i.e rebutted tyre waste and ceramic tiles powder. Among which the rebutted tyre waste dosage is kept constant by 10% weight to the fine aggregate replacement. And the ceramic tiles powder is partially replaced by fine aggregates in proportion of 10%,20%,30%,40% and 50%. M25 grade of concrete was designed and tested. The mix design for different types of mixes were prepared by replacing the coarse aggregates and fine aggregate at different percentages of crushed tiles and rebutted tyre waste. It has been observed that the workability increases with increase in the percentage of replacement of rebutted tyre waste and crushed tiles increases. The optimum presence of coarse aggregates that can be replaced by crushed tiles and fine aggregates by ceramic tiles powder and rebutted tyre is30%.

Abstract The advanced technology of materials which is used in asphalt mixtures is developed in some countries like Europe and North America. The SMA (stone matrix asphalt) mixture is a gap graded open bituminous mixture which consists of high proportion of coarse aggregates, less medium sized aggregates with mineral filler and high binder content with low air voids. It resists permanent deformation and has the potential for long term performance and durability. The durability is provided by rich mortar binder. The flow and mechanical properties of the mix areto check the suitability of natural fibers as stabilizing agent in the mixture. The Stabilizing additives which includes fibers, polymers or waste materials in SMA mixture areused to stiffen the mastic at high temperature by reducing the asphalt drain down. This study compares the strength of pavement wearing course made with SMA mix without and
with different fibers.The Optimum Fiber Length of 6 to 8mm was found at Fiber Content of 0.3%. The SMA mix with Nominal maximum aggregate size shows better performance without using the stabilizing additive.The Stability and Bulk density are high for coconut fiber when compared with other fibers. Natural fibers shows better performance for preventing asphalt drain down compared to the polymer fibers.

Abstract The coefficient of elastic uniform compression of soil (Cu) is the most important parameter to be determined in designing a machine foundation. This paper presents the results of cyclic-footing-load tests from the Laboratory - model tests on square footings supported by a sand bed. The various intensity of cyclic load (loading, unloading and reloading) apply on the footing and then the elastic rebound of the footing corresponding to each intensity of loading obtains during the tests to determine the coefficient of elastic uniform compression of sand. The influence of sand relative densities of 37.5%, 48.3%,57.5%, 65.7%, and 78.56% on behavior of footing under
cyclic loads case investigated. The results indicate that with increasing the relative density of soil the value of Cu increases.

Further, this paper re-affirms the scope for use of industrial by-products in the manufacture of concrete in all possible aspects including practicability, economic feasibility and ecological benefits. GGBFS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) and GBF Slag Sand is one such waste product of the iron manufacturing industry, whose use
and production has increased many folds during last decades is used in this experimental work as alternative binder and filler materials for Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and River Sand respectively in concrete. M40 grades of concrete was considered for a water content (w/c) 0.4 and slag sand replaced by 40%,50%&60% with river sand and GGBFS replacements of 30%, 40%, 50% with cement to investigate the properties of compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength of concrete mix. And also optimization of concrete has been checked to get the required target mean strength. The optimum strength of concrete was obtained for the mix having 40% GGBS and 50% Slag sand (58.41 N/mm2 ).

And different types are attacked on our network while communication as well due to energy loss of the routing nodes, we can loss the packets. By losing packets, the packet delivery ration will be reduced in the MANETs. To avoid the MANETs breaches or violations, in this paper we implemented distribution key management scheme for MANETs. The key verification done by the sender node to its neighbor nodes; in existing, if the neighbor
node key verification may failed, then the packet will dropped or the communication will be stopped there. To avoid this problem means to reduce the network overhead; the implemented mechanism is best mechanism. The proposed mechanism can verify the neighbor node key and it fails then next genuine node will be choosing to send the data. By this we can reduce the network overhead and improve the packet delivery ratio of the MANETs.

Abstract In this present investigation continuous growth in the construction industry .The available source of natural fine aggregate are procured and it transferred to long distance which effect the construction cast, for this reason it is very much necessary to substitute in concrete by an material added partially ,without compromising the quality of concrete .fly ash & M sand are the one of the replacement of material for cement & natural sand respectively. This work aim is to using these partial replacement of materials like cement by fly ash and natural sand by M sand to study the strength of M40 grade of concrete and we added the steel fifer to the concrete. The tests are conducted to find out the strength of M40 grade of concrete with curing period 3,7,& 28 days of compressive strength ,split tensile strength & flexural strength . In this work we maintained the fly and M sand are kept constant 30% & 60% respectively and steel fibre are varied in the range from 0%,0.5%,1%,1.5%& 2%. And the water cement ratio is taken 0.4%. at the end of the optimum results are concluded at 30% of fly ash & 60% of M sand with 1% of steel fiber gives good strength increment in compressive strength ,split tensile strength & flexural strength at optimum mix.

Abstract The waste powder was generated at every year millions of tons from industrial stone plants. It’s very serious damage to the environmental pollution. In that one of the stone plants is marble, it is used for decorative purposes in construction. During the process of marble cutting pieces some waste powder was released by plant. The waste marble powder was used in concrete construction by partial replace of cement. In this present study the concrete mix was prepared according to IS: 10262:2009 and the experimental studies we carried out to investigate the strength properties on M-40 grade concrete made with various mixes. In this study we include compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength of hardened concrete. The materials which we are using are marble powder and stone dust as a replacement for cement and fine aggregate respectively. The percentage of cement replaced with marble powder is 10%, 20% and 30% along with replacement of fine aggregate with stone dust is 50%, 70% and 100% and the strength were compared with conventional concrete. In this study the set of cubes, cylinders and beams were casted for compressive strength, splint tensile strength and flexural strength respectively. The concrete specimens were tested after 7 days and 28 days after curing

Optimization Process Parameters for a Single Loop Pulsating Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger

Abstract An experimental investigation on single loop pulsating heat pipe(PHP) is presented in this work. A closed pulsating heat pipe heat exchanger with a single turn is fabricated by brass tube with 2 mm diameter and408 mm long andtested. The un-steady and steady state experiments are conducted and operating temperatures are measured. The experiments are conducted for different working fluids, heat inputs and maintained filling ratio as constant (50%). The derivedparameters consist of thermal resistance and heat transfer coefficient of PHP. The outcomes of this experiments show in periodic movement of the working fluid at lower values of heat input. The evaporator temperature at steady state is raisehigher for ethanol (C2H5OH) compared to acetone (H3CHO) and methanol(CH3OH). The condenser temperature at steady state is form lesser for acetone compared to methanol and ethanol. The temperature difference between evaporator and condenser at steady state is creating lesser for acetone compared to the methanol and ethanol.Lower value of thermal resistance and higher value of heat transfer coefficient are realized in case of acetone compared to methanol and ethanol.

DESIGN OF TRAFFIC RESPONSIVE PLAN SIGNALS AT SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION

Abstract The goal of this study is to improve efficiency of traffic control at the intersection by the provision of Traffic Responsive Plan Selection mode (TRPS) system which works on real-time detections and eliminates the wastage of green time allotted to a phase. The first step this research is to collect the data from the field, Generation of  traffic states, Development of signal timing plans, Simulation and evaluation. Smart Eye video-detection system was used to monitor and record the volume data. This system is able to perform the analysis of the distribution of the traffic flows along the whole road intersections in real time and through implemented algorithms manage TRPS mode in the most suitable way. The sensor detects the traffic volume at all approaches on the junction and automatically
discard the unusual spikes or dips in traffic flow from further consideration. The second problem is generation of different traffic scenarios, which can encounter in the future, and definition of threshold for each of this state. Detailed plot of the 15-minutes volume data by time of day over specific weekday was prepared and subjected to the next examinations. TRPS mechanism selects and associates timing plans to traffic state, then activate a specific timing plan after recognition of this adjacent traffic state. . The activation mode is applied through a pattern matching mechanism, where new timing plan is implemented, when the traffic volume is associated to its similar to state. Nearest Neighbourhood classification method was used as pattern matching mechanism. It is a basic calculation that stores every single accessible case and group’s new cases in light of closeness measure such as remove capacities. Therefore, it is very important to cluster the traffic states into groups with similar characteristics and after associate suitable traffic plan, lest fail through activation of inadequate timing plan. Subsequently, optimal timing plans for all traffic states are designed. The purpose of this step was to select the best timing plans, which ensure good progression in both directions along the artery. Evaluation of created timing plans with traffic scenarios was performed using SimTraffic simulation implemented in Synchro. This evaluation is very important since it provides estimated
values for numbers of stops and total delay for both modes, TOD and TRPS. Afterwards, was carried out the comparison of two discussed modes. In comparison with TOD mode, TRPS bring up the most suitable timing plans for the existing traffic condition. Instead, TOD is limited to bringing up timing plans according to a fixed time schedule regardless of the existing traffic condition. To conduct a fair comparison between the TRPS and TOD mode, the six hours simulations with actual and designed timing plans was executed. It was necessary to predict the total delay expected from implementing a TRPS mode and actual delay connected with TOD mode. Simulations show 19% reduction of average travel time per vehicle with TRPS mode in comparison to TOD mode. Moreover, total delay, numbers of total stops and fuel consumption also decrease. This study shows how to implement the traffic responsive
control mode in the traffic network improvement in the overall system performance.

ASSESSMENT OF ROADWAY CAPACITY FOR A FOUR- LANE DIVIDED ROAD UNDER HETEROGENEOUS TRAFFIC

Abstract The economic growth of any country depends on transportation for its overall development. The highways in India follow heterogeneous traffic conditions in contrast to highways in other countries. Hence, the models developed for capacity estimation of highways by other countries cannot be adapted in India. In this paper, the assessment of roadway capacity for a 4-lane divided National highway-44 with two sections each of 60 meter stretch is identified and considered for the study. The sections were selected taking into account the effect of varying road geometry, pavement surface conditions and possible variations in traffic conditions only on normal weekday traffic. Traffic data consisting of classified traffic volumes, space mean speeds and free speeds of vehicles were obtained using videography technique in blocks of four hours each for 10 to 12 hours in a day to capture the effects of morning
and evening peak hours as well as the heavy traffic plying primarily in the night-time. The methodologies involved in this study are 1) free flow speed 2) Dynamic passenger car unit and 3) speed flow study. Speed-flow relationships on the study sections were then developed for the study sections and capacity flow was taken to be the traffic flow at half of the free flow speed at a section microscopic simulation of the traffic on the study sections was attempted using VISSIM 7.0. The simulation model was calibrated and validated using the observed volumes, space mean speeds. Subsequently the capacity was estimated using the speeds and flows obtained using the simulation model. The capacity with respect to four lane divided National highway is estimated to be around 4100 PCU/hr/lane/direction. Assessment of lane change behaviour for four-lane through field observations and model refinement can be done. Study can be extended to the estimation of Capacity for eight-lane and six-lane divided highways.

Abstract The main goal of this study is to find the capacity of unsignalized intersection using conflict technique method and to compare the results with HCM(2000) procedure. Conflict technique is developed to overcome these shortcomings. Surveillance equipment is used to obtain the required data, such as traffic volume flow and speed. The speed of vehicle is used to calculate the capacity of vehicular movements for each conflict group. Result comparison is made between the conflict method, observed values and the HCM 2000. Pedestrians are not considered in this study, further study can be focused on pedestrian movements along with vehicle movements.

The first part of the research was to identify the methods and models for identification of Individual Risk on the regional road network and to study GIS application for Identification of Individual Risk on the regional road network. The second part of the research deals with the case study and a research methodology has been proposed. An Interactive Model for Identification of Individual Risk on the Regional Road Network Using Arc GIS software is developed. In the third part of the research the accident data was analyzed by using Crash Severity Method. In the last part of the research the results obtained
was discussed. By analyzing the accident data the various causes of accidents was identified. Finally the research is concluded by suggesting remedial measures and provisions for traffic safety are suggested

Abstract The goal of this dissertation work is to locate specific GIS maps for various public utility services such as road network, educational institutes, electric transformations, water bodies, graveyards etc.., showing connectivity and accessibility. The first part of investigation is to study the area of Sadashivapet town of Medak district of Telangana state. It includes area, population, literacy rate, agriculture, road network, Infrastructure, etc., to know the utilities can be made for road infrastructure mapping by GIS.The second part of investigation is to collection of data the Sadashivapet town, which includes the road dataset, building, bridges, landmarks, infrastructures, water bodies, etc., for GIS mapping. The third part was import all the data collection to geo-references satellite which consists of hardware and software components for the preparation of raw data. The fourth part is to interactive GIS used for road infrastructure mapping for the purpose of analysis of different data collected which overlapped of images and formed consolidated maps, This consolidated maps is imported to GIS software identify utilities like road network, infrastructure, water bodies, bridges, route analysis. The final part has confirmed road network and utilities planning in sadshivpet town of medak district in an organized manner and this are the first step towards the development of the district. Hence investigation can be carried out by the proposed methodology, there are several improvements that can be implemented in order to have a more user-friendly and automated system and to make data accessibly for all the road users and to implement various procedures to provide more safety on roads.

Abstract In the recent years the number and speed of vehicles have been increased and the quality of roads and safety standard of vehicles are being optimized to a desired level by using various methods. In addition, the road users are being educated to improve their behaviour in terms of safe driving. This study has shown how to reduce the traffic accidents on selected stretches in urban context. The goal of this paper is to analyze traffic accidents in selected stretches i.e. Miyapur to kukatpally, Dilsuknagar to Chaderghat, RTC X-road to Secunderabad, Afzalgunj to Puranapul, which are affected due to traffic congestion using GIS in the City of Hyderabad. The first part of the study investigated identification of maximum number of accidents in selected areas, accident victim wise, accident accused vehicle wise, accident day wise, accident by age wise, accident by hour wise, accident by drunk and drive wise etc. The second part of the study investigated collection of spatial data and non spatial data for identification of traffic accident black spots. The third part of the study investigated the development of spatial and attribute database to minimize the traffic congestion and to suggest the alternate route to prevent accidents. The last part of the study investigated the development of processing tool to create black spot analysis by Kernel Density Estimation method using GIS to reduce traffic accidents. The study suggested several improvements that can be implemented in order to have a more userfriendly and automated system and to make data accessibly for all the road users and to implement various procedures to provide more safety on roads.

Improving Fairness and throughput by Backing of Time (BoT) function in Wireless ad hoc networks

Abstract This is the era of wireless communication. The world is going through the revolution in wireless communication technology and its many applications. It caught the attention of the media and the imagination of the public. Several wireless communication networks that rely on infrastructure such as cellular networks, Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN), Bluetooth, Ultra-wideband networks (UWB), Wi-Max are very popular and extend with a very fast pace. In a proposed work, A novel method is proposed to enhance the throughput of the wireless ad hoc network using Backing of Time (BoT) method. This method utilizes the concept of Asymmetric RTS/CTS method in efficient manner according to energy level of wireless nodes. The proposed method is simulated and compared with Standard RTS/CTS and Asymmetric RTS/CTS methods based on parameters like Packet Delivery Ratio, Routing Overhead, E-2-E delay, Throughput and Energy Consumption of the network. The proposed work outperforms to the existing methods and simulation results showed 8.31% of improvement to PDR, 12.12% of improvement to RO, 1.11% of improvement to E-2-E Delay, 1.05% of improvement to throughput, 35.76% of improvement to Energy Consumption.

Energy Efficient Conveyor System for the Transport of Building Material from one Floor to the other

Abstract A material-handling system can be defined as movement, handling, storage and controlling of materials throughout the process. Flat conveyor belt is used to transport various things from one location to another location in horizontal as well as inclined directions. It is one of the type of material handling equipment. In developing countries manual material handling is done at a great extent at construction site for transporting different raw material such as cement, bricks, sand etc by local labours. Many times various accidents may occur due to improper handling of material leading to human injury or loss of quantity of material. Also the manpower required is large. So by using this flat belt conveyor, at a faster rate and with due to safety, we are trying to make such conveyor which can supply bricks from ground floor to first floor at construction site. Solar energy is rapidly advancing as an important means of renewable energy resources and also get available easily rather than other sources so that we also use solar panel as a energy source instead of electricity so that we can use this machine at areas where electricity is not available easily. If needed we can also use battery to store energy from solar panel so that on cloudy days also we are able to run the conveyor system. Our aim of the project is to reduce
the effort required by worker at construction site, also to reduce the manpower needed for the same purpose and run this machine without electricity as an energy source so that we can also save it. We are also trying to make this project or machine in minimum cost so that small contractors can afford to purchase.

Experimental Investigation of Recycled PET-Polypropylene hybrid Fiber Reinforced Concrete

Abstract The use of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete has attracted because cementitious material including different type of fibers in suitable combination performs better compared to mono fiber reinforced concrete. In this study I have investigated the performance of concrete containing Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle waste fibers along with polypropylene fibers as a hybrid fiber reinforced concrete. The PET fibers are obtained by simply cutting the bottles. PET bottle waste was chosen because it is being thrown after single use and cause environmental problem. In present investigation fresh properties as well as mechanical properties of individual fibers and hybrid fibers for various proportions of fibers are found out. The workability of fresh concrete is determined by slump cone
and compaction factor test also results of compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength were studied. The use of waste PET bottle fibers with polypropylene fibers in concrete has been shown interesting improvements in concrete performance.

Evaluation of RC Framed Building for Linear and Nonlinear Analysis by using Shear and Flexural Failure Model

Abstract Conventional method is to analyse the building by linear analysis method. In this method the analysis is done for the elastic zone only and ignoring the strength in inelastic zone. So to predict the behaviour of building in inelastic zone, nonlinear analysis method is used. In nonlinear analysis method, the moment rotation capacity of the building is taken into consideration. Further it accounts the behaviour of the building after cracks takes place. It is possible to build the building with desired performance level. In present project, a comparative study of the building with linear analysis and nonlinear analysis method is done for 5, 10, 15 and 20 storey with all other parameters constants. Nonlinear analysis is carried out first by considering flexural and shears hinges and then by considering
only flexural hinges. This study is limited to static nonlinear analysis only. From the analysis, pushover curve i.e. base shear Vs. floor displacement curve is obtained. This study also describes the performance of the building for different performance points like intermediate occupancy (IO), life safety (LS) and collapse prevention (CP).

A priority based broadcasting using Fast and Reliable Warning Messages dissemination mechanism for Inter Vehicular

Abstract Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETS) differ from Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) in that they have high mobility and rapidly changing network topology. In addition, the topic of broadcasting emergency messages within a VANET has received considerable attention recently. Vehicles can periodically exchange their status with their neighbours, transmitting information collected via the Global Positioning System (GPS) in their OnBoard Unit (OBU). In this paper, a priority based broadcasting of messages is used with Fast and Reliable Warning Messages (FRWM) mechanism for inter vehicular communications. The experiment would be conducted with VANET highway scenario would be analyzed. The whole method is concerned with safety broadcasting among inter vehicular communications. The highway VANET scenario is considered for up to 100 vehicles with 3 lanes. The priority is given according to ambulance, police and ordinary vehicles. The simulative experiment is conducted using network simulator 2. The proposed method is compared with Appropriate Vehicular Emergency Dissemination (AVED) method in terms of parameters like reception rate, delay time and number of forwarding counts. The simulation results showed the improved performance of proposed FRWM method over AVED method.

ENHANCED LOAD BALANCING IN CLOUD COMPUTING

Abstract Load Balancing is a method in which the requests sent to the servers by numerous clients are redirected by the load balancer algorithm/program which seats between the client and the server such that it distributes the load among all the available server instances in such a way that it maximises resource utilization with minimum response time and servers/instances are less overloaded. The rate at which the uses of internet applications at the enterprise level are expanding because of ease of availability of internet and huge set of devices that are available to use internet such as smart phones, laptops, PDAs etc , it challenges the cloud system how to balance the load among the servers present within the cloud environment. These cloud applications services such as SaaS, IaaS and PaaS faces a bottleneck problem when the client increase as a consequence the load on these services increased abruptly so here
comes the role of load balancer to balance the traffic by determining the least loaded and fast responding servers from the set of available instances of servers such that it can redirect the request sent from the client. So in order to remain responsive the server instances need to apply some good mechanism of load balancing in the present scenario, enterprises are required to have effective load balancing within their environment architecture. To survive in the competitive market, the wisest solution is to use cloud based service for developing infrastructure. This paper will help in evaluating which load balancing algorithm should be used, using virtual java based cloud environment some dynamic load balancing algorithms are compared with each other and also some enhancement in the already existed load balancing mechanism is proposed and again compared to the existing ones with a thought on overall performance of infrastructure/system and to reduce the response time

AUTOMATIC WATER PUMP CONTROL AND SYSTEM MONITORING BY USING INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) TECHNOLOGY

Abstract The main purpose of an automated water pump system for home or any user needing it for filling tanks as well as for using water supply. The system consists of water sensor, temperature sensors and wifi module and GSM modem are controlled by PIC microcontroller. The user can manually send the sms commands to on/off the pump. Whenever the water comes and touches to the sensor, sensor sends the signal to the microcontroller and on the pump automatically .once water stop the pump will automatically off after 3 sec. The system consists of a float switch for checking water level, if tank fills the pump will automatically off. The tank
water reaches above 30o c the system now notifies the user that it has TEMP IS HIGH. The system also consistsof LED light to know the pump condition. The system information can be monitor through the ThingSpeak website

Reverse Order Cost Selection method to overlay Coverage in Wireless Networks

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), which are two or three dimensional systems, usually consist of a large number of small sensors equipped with some processing circuit, and a wireless transceiver. In this research work, it has been observed that HA-ECMSE routing reduce only the power of radio transmission and is therefore not suitable for heavy-duty applications. However, HA-ECMSE protocols can maintain network connectivity but do not guarantee coverage-hole detection. Therefore, HA-ECMSE cannot be used for networks with variable workloads. So, an enhancement to the existing system is done by proposing a novel technique Reverse Order Cost Selection (ROCS) method to overlay the coverage-hole problem in Wireless Sensor Networks. After the initial random deployment of the sensors, the position of the sensors is found out either by the GPS. The transmission range of the sensors is used to compute the coordinates of the sensors in the proposed method. Once the position of the nodes is found out, the probable location of coverage-hole is checked at a point of Region of Interest (ROI). Then, the WSN nodes are selected according to their position like nodes are closer to coverage-hole, nodes are not closer to coverage-hole and nodes includes the coverage hole. The simulation result shows that the proposed ROCS method is better than the existing HA-ECMSE method. The ROCS method shows the 0.97 % of improvement PDR, 6.55 % of improvement forwarding counts, 8.88 % of improvement packet retransmission and 27.84 % of improvement in total energy
consumption when compared to HA-ECMSE method

Abstract Fine aggregate like sand is a material used for Various concrete construction in the world.There are lot of constructions done by partial replacements either fine or coarse aggregate with cement but i have done my research on partial replacement of sand by Brick Ballast .This project explains about the replacement of fine aggregates by partially brick ballast. I have done partial replacements by brick ballast with various percentages as 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% & 30% and optimum percentage of replacements is made and strength and workability parameters are studied. The workability of concrete gets decreased with the addition of the brick ballast. From the test results, brick ballast replaced for fine aggregates give a maximum strength at 30% when compared to conventional concrete. So we use optimum percentage of brick ballast in order to get the maximum strength as required for the construction.

Abstract There is a lot of need to search for an alternative fuels in place of conventional fuels as the reserves of conventional fuels are decreasing due to increase in their consumption in day to day lives and these fossil fuels in near future will become rare due to its indiscriminate extraction as well as utilization. Diesel fueled vehicles are releases number of harmful emissions like CO, UHC, NOX , CO2, sooth and particulate matter etc. in considerable quantities which are very harmful to environment as well as human beings. To provide a healthy environment to our next generations we should reduce the releasing the emissions from automobiles. However, to overcome this problem the bio-fuels are being used in the field of IC engines as alternate fuels. Therefore Algal biodiesel is considered as a promising option as they are clean renewable fuels and best substitute for now day’s conventional fuels in internal combustion engines. The important advantages of using algal biodiesel are its renewability and better quality of exhaust gas emissions. Depending on the species and cultivation conditions, algae can contain extremely high percentage of lipids or carbohydrates that can be easily converted into whole range of biofuels including biodiesel or bio ethanol. The main focus of this work is to replace the conventional fuels with the algal oil which is directly injected into the combustion chamber and also blended with non-renewable fuels at 20% by volume in a single cylinder four stroke water cooled light duty injection CI engine at different injection pressures like 180,190 and 200
bars. The tests were conducted for pure diesel and B20 algae oil in diesel engine at constant speed of 1500 rpm with varying the loads. The performance results at 180 to 190 bars of blend very closer to pure diesel results. The emissions UHC, CO and CO2 are very less at 180 bars than pure diesel. The NOx emissions are lesser at 200 bars compare to pure diesel. The overall performance is good at 180 and 190 bars. But the emissions are decreased when increasing injections pressure.

Abstract The enormous rise in automobiles will lead to requirement of more alternative energy sources. The alternative energy may obtain from natural resources like bio-fuels. When energy is generated, oxides and nitrogen are released which are dangerous to the greenhouse emission. Biodiesel is an alternative to the conventional fuels. But it will create additional NOx in emissions. But when we make use of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), there will be lessening in NOx emissions. This paper concentrates on influence of the EGR, Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) and emissions, NOx, CO, CO2, HC, and unburned hydrocarbons (UBHC). Single cylinder diesel engine equipped with EGR is examined for finding out the performance at part load condition and fuel is tested by maintaining engine at 1500rpm. The experiment shows considerable increase of fuel consumption using castor biodiesel, and decrease in exhaust gas temperature and emissions

Abstract In the present day to day life each and every work involves travelling and transportation as a result of this usage of automobile vehicles increases day by day rapidly for heavy duty works and for heavy transportation. DI Diesel Engine is used because of its higher power outputs. But in this Diesel Engine in the suction stroke, inlet air which is entering in to the engine cylinder is compressed to higher pressure and temperature, which sometimes is not sufficient to mix with the fuel injected, and some of the fuel particles are burnt incompletely in this process and it gets released into atmosphere from exhaust stroke. Due to these circumstances there is a loss of fuel and also it produces less power output than the required. Improving engine performance and reducing the exhaust emissions are the most important issues. The thermal efficiency of an engine increases by the amount of heat present in the combustion chamber which mainly depends on heat transfer rate through the piston. Thermal efficiency is increased by reducing heat loss through
piston by providing air insulations between the piston crown and skirt. In the present work, three different strategies of air insulation (air gap) of 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm between the aluminium piston skirt and conical brass crown which is of low thermal conductivity and low specific heat are attempted on the test engine, with an objective to identify the best one in terms of performance and emissions. Among them 2mm air gap insulated piston has the better performance characteristics. And then it is coated with yttrium oxide as heat resisting material and the engine tests are carried out and the performance and emissions are evaluated and compared with the performance of other pistons.

Various systems like fuel supply system, lubrication system, transmission system, cooling system etc. affects the performance of an engine. Cooling system is one of the important system. It carries large amount of waste heat to surroundings for efficient working of an engine. Most of the I.C. engines are fluid cooled using either air or liquid coolant run through a heat exchanger(radiator)which is cooled by air. The heat transfer through radiator can be increased by increasing heat transfer area and maximising heat transfer coefficient. Heat transfer coefficient can be raised by improving thermo physical properties of the coolant. Water was widely used as a coolant in earlier days. Later ethylene glycol along with water was introduced as a coolant. The new generation of heat transfer fluids called NANO fluids have been developed with the advancement of nanotechnology. Researchers found that these fluids offer higher thermal conductivity compared to that of conventional coolants. So conventional coolants in engine cooling system can be replaced with Nano fluids. Nano
fluids are potential heat transfer fluids with enhanced thermo physical properties and heat transfer performance. So these Nano fluids can be used in automobile radiator for better performance. In the present study the cooling performance of CuO-Water nanofluid in an automobile radiator is to be studied and compared with Al₂O₃-Water nanofluid. Furthermore, the change in Nusselt number for different concentrations of nanoparticles is to be found and compared.

Large shock absorbers have also been used in structural engineering to reduce the susceptibility of structures to earthquake damage and resonance. A transverse mounted shock absorber, called a yaw damper, helps keep railcars from swaying excessively from side to side. It also use in cams-follower arrangement. The vehicles suspension systems are mainly classified in three categories1.passive
suspension system 2.semi-active suspension system 3.active suspension system. Here we are analysing shock absorbers of different bikes by using FFT analyser in DEWESOFT software here we obtained acceleration time graph for different shock absorbers for bike moving on the road without constraints by piezoelectric sensors. We analysed the results obtained by sensors in the FFT analyser and furnished the result of different shock absorber. So that we will be able to suggest which is better and also to tell which type of
material will help to increase the ability of shock absorber.

Silica fume has been used to replace OPC which varies from 10% to 25% at interval of 10% by total weight of OPC.A total ten mixes (trial mix, control mix and variation mix) were prepared for M60 grade of concrete. This study investigates the performance of concrete under influence of silica fume in terms of slump, compressive strength at 7 days 14 days 28 and 56 days, flexural strength of beam at 7,14,28 and 56 days and splitting tensile strength of Cylinder at 7, 14, 28 and 56 days. A number of specimens for cubes, cylinders and beams were Casted respectively, which were casted for testing to study the influence of Silica fume on concrete. Abstract Leaf springs are generally used for suspension in automobiles leaf springs are long and narrow plates attached to the above or below to the wheel axle leaf spring prevents the transmitting of road shocks to the vehicle components, helps for safe and comfortable riding to safeguard the occupants from road shocks it is necessary to determine the maximum safe stress and deflection. The objective is to find the optimum stresses and deformation of leaf spring by applying static and dynamic loads on it. Different materials with different mechanical properties are considered for the structural static analysis. In the present work they are designed by considering dynamic and static loads on automobiles. Leaf spring model was generated by using solid works 2016. With three different thickness 6mm 5mm 4mm and analysis was done using Ansys 16.0 workbench with three kinds of materials such as E-glass epoxy, Kevlar-49 and Al-Si-Mg composite. Static and dynamic analysis is carried out at 3342.5N stress, strain and total deformation was found. By the following results Kevlar-49 consist optimum frequency, stresses, total deformation, and weight reduction factor for 5mm thickness when compared to other materials such as E-glass epoxy and Al-Si-Mg composite.

Root zone treatment technology for domestic sewage wastewater treatment has been proven to be effective and sustainable alternative for various conventional wastewater technologies. Increasing urbanization and human activities exploit and affect the quality and quantity of the water resources; this has been resulted in pollution of fresh water bodies. Due to increased use of water and thus release of domestic sewage. Treatment of domestic sewage is necessary to ensure that the receiving water into which the effluent is finally discharged is not significantly polluted. During 2015, the estimated sewage generation in India was 61754 MLD as against the developed sewage treatment capacity of 22963 MLD. Because of the hiatus in sewage treatment capacity, about 38791 MLD of untreated sewage (62% of the total sewage) is discharged directly into nearby water bodies (CPCB 2016). As still we had not developed a planned strategy for waste water treatment completely. Constructed wetlands have been developed for domestic sewage treatment. This technique exploits the natural ability of the reeds to transfer large quantities of oxygen from the atmosphere to its root zone. Where a variety of bacteria in the soil effect biological removal of pollutants. The objective of this study is to install pilot scale Root zone treatment system to treat domestic sewage by using an aquatic macrophyte Phragmites Australis. In the present investigation water samples were collected seasonally for the period of two years and treated it with Root zone treatment system, both influent and effluent samples were taken for BOD analysis. The maximum
BOD reduction found 72.83 % in the winter season and the minimum BOD reduction found 59.66 % in the summer season

Intersections are the nodal points in cities road infrastructure.Signalizing these road intersections can improve traffic handling capacity and safety of road users. Following is a case study was taken up in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh,India. Traffic data is collected from signalized intersections and analyzed to determine Passenger Car Unit (PCU) values of two wheelers, three wheelers, cars and buses. An attempt is made with the help of a case study to simplify the Webster’s model of traffic signal designing into a multiple linearregression equation, and a non-signalized intersection in Srikakulam city is signalized with the help of this multiple linear regression equation.That intersections performance is analyzed with the help of a traffic simulation software named Tsignals.

Parametric Study of Multistorey Buildings as Per Indian Seismic Codes IS1893:2002 & IS 1893:2016

Abstract Considerable improvement in earthquake resistant design has been observed in recent past. As a result Indian seismic code IS: 1893 has also been revised in year 2016, after a gap of 14 years. This project intended to present parametric study for multi-storey buildings as per IS: 1893-2002 and IS: 1893-2016 recommendations. Four multi-storey RC framed buildings ranging from fifteen storeyed to thirty storeyed will be considered and analyzed. The process will give a set of individual analysis sequences for each building and the results will be used to compare the seismic response viz. Lateral displacement, Base Shear, Mode Shape & Storey drifts are computed as per the two versions of seismic code. Steel Quantity of shear walls was compared using software ‘Draftwin’ which creates detailed quantities for concrete, reinforcement and formwork for RCC buildings. It is considered that such study needs to be carried out for individual structure to predict seismic vulnerability of RC framed buildings & also to check the buildings which were designed using earlier code and due to revisions in the codal provisions may have rendered unsafe.

Theengine tests have been carried out by using Diesel, Biodiesel blends(B10,B20,B30) and adding additive Di MethylCarbonate(DMC)tothe best biodiesel blend B20 in various proportionsi.e(B20+500mg,B20+1000mg,B20+1500mg).Brake thermal efficiency of diesel is 29.1% at 2.31kW BP and 28.5% at 2.88kW BP where as brake thermal efficiency of B20+1000mg additive shows closer value to diesel because of better combustion of fueli.e 28.6% at 2.31kW BP and 27.6% at 2.88kW BP. The brake specific fuel consumption decreases for B20+1000mg compared to that of B20blend and its value is closer to that of diesel. Result shows thatCO, HC, and NOX decreases with adding additive to biodiesel blends.Performance and emission analysisare satisfactory with all the test fuels.Therefore this paper provides a good future scope to use thisbiodiesel fuel in C.I engine without any engine modifications.

Advancement in Properties of Clayey Soil using Sewage Sludge Ash And Plastic Waste

Abstract In order to stabilize clayey soil, Sewage Sludge Ash (SSA) and plastic waste are added in different proportions to the clayey soil. Sewage sludge ash in values of 4% to 20% i.e. 4%, 8%, 12%, 16% & 20% by weight of the total quantity of clayey soil taken is mixed with the soil and test is conducted to determine optimum SSA content. Optimum SSA is determined by performing Standard Proctor Compaction Test.Influence of plastic waste strips on various properties of clayey soil treated with sewage sludge ash is also studied. The optimum SSA content obtained is used in clayey soil along with plastic waste strips with 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5% by weight of the total quantity of clayey soil taken and optimum plastic waste content to be used is also determined. Tests such as Compaction, Atterberg’s limits, Specific Gravity, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS), and California Bearing Ratio (CBR) are performed to determine properties of clayey soil sample. The resultsindicate that Maximum Dry Density of untreated soil were greatly improved by the use of 12% SSA. Moreover, 1.5% addition of plastic waste in the form of strips enhanced the treated soil in terms of Maximum Dry Density.
Furthermore, the optimum moisture content was effectively reduced by the use of 12% SSA as compared with untreated soil and the 1.5% plastic waste strips fraction offered the best performance. From this study, we conclude that 12% of SSA replacement could effectively stabilize clayey soil, and 1.5% of plastic waste strips may be the optimum amount to add to the soil.

WIRELESS TEMPERATURE CONTROL OF SERVER ROOM

Abstract Remote applications are widely used in various fields such as industry, education and security. The aim of the proposed setup in the paper is to control and monitor the temperature of server room using LabVIEW software and GSM Module. The temperature of server room has to maintain in a defined range, otherwise, the servers and equipments situated in a server room may came into disaster due to rise in the temperature. In order to measure and control the temperature, we use analog temperature sensor LM35. A Data Acquisition Card (DAQ) is used to perform temperature measurement and control task. The temperature task is created within a range of temperature in LabVIEW. For it, the logic containing the program for monitoring and controlling the temperature in a server room is created. When temperature varies despite of the set range, then LabVIEW program is responsible to give the command to the GSM module, which sends SMS to to operator and generates the immediate necessary action by switching the Fan. It indicates that temperature has varied despite of set limit and corrective action has initiated. The Setup and Program developed to serve the purpose. Here Lab VIEW is a graphical user interface to the user and GSM is used for outside world interaction for information transfer.

The analysis was carried out by ansys fluent CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and optimization was done by Taguchi method using Minitab 17 software. Based on the optimization study, the L: C- 1:2 have given 0.211 W/cm2maximum power density on PEMFC performance and square of response factor (R2) was achieved as 99.12 %.

controlled junction, Signalized Intersection can reduce speed as well as the point of divergence and the overall delay is less as compared to the normal intersection. Hence it is necessary to evaluate the feasibility of the intersection. Traffic congestion mainly occurred by a range of vehicles like rickshaw, bullock cart etc, which was followed by tempo, car, bus, truck etc due to which proper traffic flow cannot be maintained. An encroachment along the roadside also causes the problem in maintaining the traffic flow . In this study an attempt is made to solve the problem of traffic congestion and unusual delay to the traffic movement due to the very large traffic volume at Intersection in Vidisha city. A square named madhavganj is selected and study regarding the traffic volume count, road geometry was conducted. After which peak hours are selected and the traffic signal is design as per the above data.
Such a detailed scenario of the traffic paradigm of madhavganj square in vidisha city is depicted in this paper.

The height of column of all four specimens is 1350 mm. Cross section of column is 150×150 mm. Span of beam is 700 mm and cross section of beam is 150×150 mm. To prepare a precast specimens casting of column and beam separately and joint beam and column with grouted material. Using a table vibrator to give vibration to the specimens during concreting. A load is given by hydraulic jack of 500kn capacity at a corner of the beam and used proving ring to measure the load

Comparison of Strength Parameters of M40 Grade of Concrete with partial Replacement of cement with Red Mud and Hydrated Lime

Abstract Most of the failures are arisen on the welded elements due to the setting of inappropriate welding parameters. The forte of welded joints in GMAW depends on numerous input process parameters such as welding current, welding voltage, gas flow rate, torch angle, electrode feed rate etc. Wrong selection of these process parameters will lead to bad quality welds. So there is a need to control the process parameters to obtain good quality welded joints. For getting the better values of these parameters, it needs to conduct experiments by varying the input process parameters that are affecting the strength of the welded joints. Present study deals with multi objective optimization of Gas Metal Arc Welding GMAW) parameters used for welding disparate metals i.e. AISI 1018 and SS
202. Welding current, time and voltage has been used as input parameters. Experiments have been planned as per Response Surface Method. Multi-response optimization has been carried out using TOPSIS method (Technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution).The developed predictive model is used to formulate the objective function for genetic algorithm and simulated annealing which was used to search for an optimal setting for better metal deposition rate(MDR), ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and hardness of the welded joint.

Abstract Edge smoothing (ES) can be formulated as reducing an objective function that comprises of information and regularization term. This worldwide Edge Smoothing method is extra powerful, flexible than other local method that ordinarily has a type of weighted averaging. In this paper, we present an effective decomposition based technique for Edge Smoothing that limits the target capacity of L2 information and regularization positions in right time. Here in this project our aim is to resolve an equivalent constrained optimization problem, subsequent of 1 Dimensional sub problem which allows fast linear time solver for weighted least square and L1 smoothing problems. This empowers applying quick direct time solve for weighted-minimum squares and - L1 smoothing issues. Our
technique is completely parallelizable and its runtime is even comparable to the local ES approaches. We additionally provide a group of quick maximization-minimization which an objective with non-convex regularization terms. Our results exhibits that proposed system is effective and more flexible in a scope of image processing applications and visual snapshot applications.

Effect of Substrate on Structural, optical and electrical properties of CuCrO2 nanothinfims by Reactive dc magnetron sputtering

Abstract Copper chromium oxide thin films have been deposited on glass, sapphire and mica substrates by dc magnetron sputtering method at substrate temperature 2000C. The structural analysis of the deposited films with GAXRD shows the (0 1 2) prominent reflection peak of CuCrO2 with vertical to c-axis as delafossite structure and surface morphology was studied by SEM. The optical and electrical properties of the films were studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy and Four probe resistivity measurements. The optical Transmission curves reveal that the film deposited on glass substrate has high transmittance with maximum band gap energy Eg 3.02 eV. The electrical resistivity values were found minimum in sapphire

Thermal Analysis of Engine Fins by using FEM: A Review

Present study has been done to enhance knowledge about the various researches done in recent years which show that heat transfer by fins depend upon on variety of fins, fin pitch, fin layout, wind velocity, fabric and climate situations. Assessment of groundwater suitability for agricultural utility in veeranam tank drainage basin, Tamilnadu, India.

Abstract The suitability of groundwater quality for agricultural use was assessed in the veeranam tank drainage basin of cuddalore district, TamilNadu.(South India). In order to evaluate the quality of groundwater in the study area, a total of 24 groundwater samples were collected randomly from dug and deep bore wells both in the summer and winter season . The concentration of major ions and other geochemical parameters were analyzed.. The result showed the concentrations of these ions are above the permissible limits for irrigation purposes. The US Salinity diagram highlights that 75 % of the samples fall under high salinity hazard (C3S1) category in both seasons. It indicates that high salinity (C3) and low sodium (S1) are moderately suitable for irrigational purposes. According to Wilcox irrigation water classification 75% of total sample fall under good to permissible category and 21% under permissible to doubtful category

PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF RECYCLED AGGREGATES AND TREATED RECYCLED AGGREGATES

Abstract Construction and Demolition(C&D) waste is the major production of total solid waste production in the world and it is most of them used in landfills. After enormous research work by various researchers made on reusing (C&D) waste, proposals are made for the possibility of reusing such waste as aggregates in new concrete with and without suitable treating. In this paper, an attempt is made on the possibility of using C&D waste for concrete in place of natural coarse aggregates known as recycled coarse aggregate (RA). A brief overview and comparison studies are made on physical and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate with and without treatment for maximum utilization of recycled aggregate in concrete. Recycled aggregate was treated with epoxy resin to reduce the water absorption. Control concrete mix is prepared by using natural coarse aggregate and test concrete mixes are prepared replacing natural aggregate by recycled coarse aggregates with and without treatment in different percentages (20%, 30%, 40% and 50%).
Tests are conducted on all concrete mixes for determining workability of fresh concrete and mechanical properties of hardened concrete like compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength. The tests results are analyzed and presented.

Abstract Geopolymer concrete is gathering on which research attention owing to its quintessential properties fire resistance, drying shrinkage, acid resistance are, mechanical and stinted heat of hydration. In comparison to conventional cement and other materials. In general it is being utilized as an alternative Portland cement concrete. Geopolymer is highly alkalized by sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide, and replaced by 40% of fly-ash and 60% ground granulated blast furnace slag. Present work transpires on investigating the mechanical properties of aforementioned concrete specimens with two concentrated fibers i.e. sisal and coir with varying percentages of 0%,0.5%,1%,1.5%. Mechanical properties such as compressive strength, spilt tensile strength and flexural strength are accentuated in this work. The results suggest that annexation of natural fibers leverages the mechanical properties of geopolymer composites. The findings of this work have serious implications that have proportional applications in construction buildings.

EVALUATION STUDIES ON EGGSHELL POWDER AND FLYASH STABILIZED RECLAIMED ASPHALT PAVEMENT AS BASE COURSE

Abstract Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) has been on global research interest in the recent past. A RAP material in pavement base courses has proven to be a viable alternative not only conserve the natural resources but also to reduce the environment pollution and land filling. Previous researchers proved that RAP can be successfully used in various pavement layers. The current study presents the results of a laboratory evaluation of Fly-ash stabilized RAP and RAP-Virgin aggregate blends as base material. OMC, MDD and CBR tests were conducted on the following on the following RAP/ virgin aggregate mixtures: 100/0, 80/20 and 60/40. To develop a potential base mix, RAP: VA mixes stabilized with Eggshell powder stabilized Fly- ash was considered. Results indicate that eggshell powder stabilized Fly-ash is proposed to increase the Maximum Dry density (MDD) and CBR of RAP: VA mix. A 100% RAP cannot be used directly in base / sub base layers because RAP material has a very low or limited bonding as the particles are coated with aged bitumen. Resilient Modulus is also calculated from the predicted equation as per IRC. The results indicate that the RAP which is used for this study is not recommended for high volume road

Effect Of Bagasse Ash And RBI Grade-81 On Geotechnical Properties Of Expansive Soil

Abstract Large area of land in India are covered with Expansive soils ( mainly Black Cotton soil ). The nature of these expansive soils is that they are quite strong when in dry state, but they lose all of their strength when in wet state. Keeping in view the nature of these soils, their nature poses problems worldwide and acts as challenge for the Geotechnical engineers. One of the essential factors for construction purposes is soil stabilization, and is used usually in foundation and road design. This is the reason why a stabilization process improves engineering properties of the soil such as stability, shear strength and durability. Replacement may be done using better material, otherwise the soil is treated with a stabiliser. Soil sample of Bagasse ash had a comparatively higher strength, lower value plasticity
index than original soil. The addition of Bagasse Ash in the expansive soil gave large increase in strength and reduced swelling properties. For doing various tests, the expansive soil was mixed with Sugarcane Bagasse Ash (SBA) from 0% to 20% at an increment of 5%. RBI grade 81 was mixed with expansive soil from 0% to 6% at an increment of 2%.The Liquid linit test, plastic limit test, standard proctor compaction test, unconfined compressive strength test were done on expansive soil in light of Indian standard (IS) codes. The institutions which are involved in the construction of road pavements, highway embankments, railways, building foundations can use these results in the field of soil stabilization with advantage.

Effect of Marble Dust and Silica Fume on Engineering Properties of Clayey Soil

Abstract This paper aims at studying the effects of silica fume and marble dust powder as admixtures in clayey soil to improve the engineering properties of soil. Silica fume and marble dust powder form a major percentage of waste materials originated by silicon industry and marble industry respectively. Based on Indian Standard guidelines Standard Proctor Test was conducted to determine the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content at varied percentages of waste admixtures (silica fume and marble dust powder) in the soil. An increase of OMC from 16.01% to 27% and decrease of MDD from 1.52g/cm3 to 1.47g/cm3 when the percentage of silica fume are used as 8, 16, & 24% respectively. When the percentage of marble dust powder are used as 12, 18 & 24% , there is decreased of OMC
from 15.86% to 14.92% and an increase of MDD from 1.65g/cc to 1.72 g/cc. There is increase of OMC from 16.32% to 22.38% and decrease of MDD from 1.69g/cc to 1.61 g/cc when the percentage of Silica fume varied from 5 to 15 % @ interval of 5% and marble dust is fixed at 18%

To reduce its impact in fields there is necessary to improving the soil characteristics by stabilization.  Now a day’s synthetic fiber such as polyester fibers are used as stabilizing material those are fabricated from plastics. Plastics create environmental pollution as per 2018, about 380million tonnes of plastic produced worldwide each year.By recycling the plastic which can be used as stabilizing material in the configuration of polyester fiber. Here lime is also used as additive increasing plastic property to soil. The current study assign with the strength behavior of the expansive soil. The accomplishment of polyester fiber and lime for make better the strength attributes to expansive soil. The laboratory tests are bringing off and conclusion are noticeable in this research paper.

One of the main aspects of the vehicle that is responsible for making vehicle more famous and popular is the average of vehicle. Average is as important term used with respect to any vehicle. Average is the distance traveled by a vehicle consuming one liter of fuel. As far as economy is concerned, the common vehicle should be maximum. Average or mileage refers to the fuel efficiency of the bike. The main aim of this project is to monitor the fuel level in the tank and estimate the distance travelled by the vehicle and display the mileage in the LCD and also in the android smartphone using Wi-Fi technology.

Effect of Industrial Pozzolana Materials on Geopolymer Concrete Mixes

Abstract The gases emitted into the atmosphere increase significantly with time, due to many reasons, the most important of which is the Portland cement (PC) industry, which in turn represents the most used part of concrete work. To avoid this, the Pozzolanic materials used as substituted to OPC. Then alkaline activated to form the gel which known as aluminosilicate acts as the binder in concrete. Aluminosilicate materials such as silica Fume (SF), GGBS and Rice Husk Ash (RHA) used based geo-polymer concrete (GPC) in this study. Also, normal concrete with grade 45 (M45) is made, then slump test for fresh concretes and compressive strength test for cubes with 15cm3 are done for comparing both geopolymer concrete and M45 under different conditions.

It is broadly demonstrated that air pollution in urban areas is mainly due to the intense use of motorized transport for travelling, with particular regard to private cars and heavy goods vehicles. This is a top priority issue for transportation planners and public authorities, given the harmful effects of pollution to human health and the environment An efficient and effective approach for the prediction of air pollution due to road transport is necessary to improve ambient air quality. Highway dispersion models are widely used for prediction of air quality along road and highway corridors. Various input parameters used by these models for prediction of air quality along the road corridors. In the present study, Prediction of pollutants PM2.5 by CALINE4 model was carried out
under mixed traffic conditions. The road corridor selected at Sanath nagar, Hyderabad (India) was a stretch which connects National Highway-65 (NH-65) to Fathe Nagar in the city. The selected corridor caters to both inter-city and intra-city traffic and had mixed traffic conditions. Prediction by CALINE4 model was carried out for 24 hours average input datasets representing different meteorological (wind speed, wind direction, mixing height, stability class), traffic (traffic volume and emission factors) and road characteristic (roadway width) along with terrain (surface roughness) characteristic.

Abstract In this research work, performance and emission analysis of a single cylinder direct injection diesel engine with pure diesel and blend of diesel and methyl ester of tallow oil in different proportions of B10, B20 and B30.The B20 blend gives better results compare to other blends and also adding different proportions (300ppm, 600ppm, 1000ppm) of p- phenylenediamine additive to B20 blend. The addition of antioxidant to blend improves fuel combustion which helps to reduce the emissions of engine. p-phenylenediamine showed greater
capability to increase the stability of B20. The test was conducted on single cylinder diesel engine under conditions of constant speed and varying load. Brake thermal efficiency of diesel is 27.3% at 2.31kW BP and 26.3% at 2.88kW BP where as brake thermal efficiency of B20+600ppm additive gives 27% at 2.31kW BP and 26% at 2.88kW BP. The results show that B20 and B20 with antioxidant additive produced higher brake specific fuel consumption compare to diesel. Adding additive to biodiesel blend results decrease of HC, CO,
and NOx emissions compare to diesel. Thus, B20 blend with added antioxidant can be used in diesel engines without any engine modifications.

INFLUENCE OF POLYPROPYLENE FIBRES ON GEOTECHNICAL PROPERTIES OF FLY ASH

Abstract Fly ash is a waste product. The only way to reduce the pollution of fly ash disposal efforts is recycled and reused in a variety of engineering applications. Properly managed, fly ash can be put in beneficial reuses. In this paper using fibre reinforcement techniques to improve geotechnical properties of fly ash. Polypropylene fibre is used to reinforce for stabilization of fly ash. The study involves standard proctor test, CBR test and direct shear test on unreinforced and reinforced fly ash. Polypropylene fibre is used in different length of 24mm and 40mm with different content i.e. 0.5%, 1% and 2%. Test results indicate that there is significant effect of synthetic fibre on geotechnical properties of Fly Ash.

Abstract As the population is increasing day by day, need for pedestrian bridges is also increasing day by day. With all the new technology and material quality improvement, the cross sections of the bridges are decreasing day by day. This is leading to lighter bridges with higher flexibility. In the past footbridges have always been designed for static loads only. People considered the dynamic effect of pedestrian walking as quite insignificant but after the incident of London’s Millennium Bridge, this dynamic effect has been considered significant as well. In the present study, an effort has been made to study dynamic effects on an old Footover Bridge located in Mumbai. The overall length of the bridge is about 330 m having 21.6 m span length. Two types of bridge decks are considered namely Steel deck and Steel Deck plus concrete overlay. These two types of bridge decks are modelled in ETABS along with the rest of the supporting system of the bridge. Four load cases are considered for each type of bridge, namely: Single person walking on single path, three persons
walking on a single path, three persons walking on three paths and finally crowd loading was considered over the entire span. All these Load cases are studied and compared for both types of bridge models. For the analysis, only vertical vibrations for the entire span length are considered. Horizontal vibrations are neglected because the bridge’s natural frequency is higher than 2.5 Hz. EUROCODE EN 1990 part 0, part 1 and part 3 was followed as well as limits from ISO 10137 is also considered.

Data mining is based on complex algorithms that allow for the segmentation of data to identify patterns and trends, detect anomalies, and predict the probability of various situational outcomes. Predictive analytics is an area of statistics. It deals with extracting information from data and using it to predict trends and behavior patterns. Education plays vital role to develop our nation. In this, there is a lot of research carried out in the field of education but no one is predict students pass rates. Here our research deals with student pass rates prediction using optimized Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm and Decision Tree (DT) algorithm.
We propose a new concept: features dependency algorithm, CART algorithm and machine learning algorithm to analysis relationship between the set of student features. And we also collect online and offline data of students from other schools and by using this algorithm we predict the student pass rates in blended learning. The purpose is to providing assistance to students who have greater difficulties in their studies and students who are at risk of graduating through data mining techniques. The result shows that to identify the week performance of the student and improve their performance by using this algorithm.

More specifically, QDMiner extracts free text lists, HTML tags and repeating areas in the main search engine results, groups them online with the products they contain, and then classifies groups and products according to how lists and products arrive. The best results are our general suggested approach and do not depend on any kind of understanding of the field. The main objective of the mining aspects is different from the consultation recommendation. We recommend a structured solution, which we described as QDMiner, to remove the aspects of the query immediately Remove and compile repetitive lists of free text, HTML tags and repeated areas in the main results of the search engine. In addition, we evaluated the problem of double listing and found that better aspects of consultation could be found by developing detailed similarity models between lists and penalizing duplicate lists. Abstract A Simple dissolution test procedure for Lansoprazole pellets dosages has been proposed and high performance liquid chromatography analytical method was developed for the measurement of Lansoprazole Pellets dosage forms with U.V detection. The chromatographic system consisted of a Zodiac ODS 4.6mm× 150mm column, an isocratic mobile phase of 650ml phosphate buffer+350ml acetonitrile. The flow rate is 1ml /minute and effluent is tested at 286nm, The lansoprazole was eluted at about 5.681min with no interfering peak from additives used for preparation dosage form. The method was linear over the range of 10-150µg/ml
lansoprazole. The dissolution test was conducted in 500ml phosphate buffer pH7.6 with paddle stirring at 100 rotation per minute (RPM).Dissolution was found to be not less than 75% in 45 minutes. The proposed method was applied successfully for the measurement of Lansoprazole content in Pellets and for vitro dissolution studies.

Abstract Discovering frequent route pattern mining from trajectory data is the basis of location awareness and location services. However, because personal trajectory data is highly uncertain, most existing approaches are only capable of finding short and incomplete route patterns. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for the discovery of frequent route patterns based on trajectory abstraction. First, trajectory partition, location extraction, data simplification, and common segment discovery are used to abstract trajectory data, convert these trajectories into common segment temporal sequences (STS) and generate 1-frequent item sets. Then, a pattern mining algorithm is proposed based on the spatial-temporal adjacency relationship. This algorithm uses the constraint mechanism and bidirectional projected database to mine frequent route patterns from STS. Based on the real Geo Life trajectory data, the experimental results indicate that the proposed method has better performance and can find longer route patterns than other currently available methods.

Abstract Lots of research and enhancement are being done in area of Sequential Pattern Mining. Previous sequential pattern mining algorithms either mines multidimensional sequences, multidimensional sequences with time-interval or sequences with constraints. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for mining multidimensional sequences considering constraints. These sequences contain time-interval between the occurrences of events (sales of item). Application of this algorithm generates frequent sequences from multidimensional data set. Due to constraints, useful, relevant and less numbers of sequences are generated. The time-interval specified between does not only state the order of occurrence of events but also time-interval between occurrences. Thus generation of such kind of useful and less number of sequences makes analysis and decision making easier. In this paper, we have applied the algorithm on data set from medical store. The experiment shows that the number of sequences generated after application of proposed algorithm is tremendously reduced as compared to those numbers of sequences which are generated using traditional algorithm.

Shear walls are one of the most widely used lateral load resisting systems. The provision of shear walls at adequate locations improves seismic performance of buildings. Shear walls are very useful in buildings as they not only provide stability to the structure but also reduces displacements, drifts and bending in structural members. The placement and type of shear wall that should be provided is a major concern in seismic behavior of buildings. In this review paper, we have studied and
summarized research work of various researchers regarding seismic behavior of multi-storey buildings with and without shear walls. The various factors which affects seismic behavior of buildings are studied from literature and other sources. The scope of study is to find out comparative between normal buildings and shear wall buildings with investigation of effect of changing shear wall location in multi-storey buildings.

In this study, the Atterberg limits, strength characteristics of sand-bentonite mixtures are investigated for different percentage compositions of sand, bentonite and also for different percentage addition of CaCl2 to support recommendation for a cost-effective liner/barrier material. A series of modified compaction tests and direct shear tests for strength characteristics were conducted on different sand-bentonite mixtures and sand-bentonite-CaCl2 mixtures. The mixtures were formed by mixing the locally available Godavari river sand with sodium bentonite in the percentage
replacement of 0%, 15%, 30%, 45% by dry weight of sand. Later CaCl2 in the proportions of 0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% is added to the optimum of the sand-bentonite mixtures. The optimum sand-bentonite-CaCl2 mixture is cured for 1 day, 7 days, 14 days and tested for its shear strength parameters. From the laboratory test results it was found that Sand-Bentonite mixture of S:B(70:30) with 1% addition of CaCl2 has the optimum strength parameters

Abstract Expansive soils are extensively distributed worldwide, it cover approximately one-sixth of the total area of our country and are a source of great damage to infrastructure, buildings and pavements. Most of the time, large areas are covered with highly plastic and expansive soil which is not suitable for the construction purpose. These soils, such as black cotton soils are basically susceptible to detrimental volumetric changes with variations in moisture content. This behavior of soil is attributed to the presence of mineral montmorillonite, which exhibits large swelling and shrinkage. Understanding the behaviour of these clayey soils and adopting
suitable measures to overcome the problems associated with these problematic soils have become a challenging task for geotechnical engineers. Abstract Expansive clay soils are considerably problematic soils in civil engineering constructions. Structures built on such type of soils show movements which are often detrimental and lead to structural damage. Damage from these soils is evidenced in many costly ways and is particularly obvious in buildings and pavements. Several methods are suggested as solutions to prevent damage to buildings in expansive soil areas. Especially expansive soils are worldwide problematic soil which is associated with the large volume change behavior when it undergoes a change in the water content. Expansive soils are found in some regions of India and many other countries. These soils pose major foundation problems, causing damage to the super structure if proper precautions have not been taken. Ground improvement technique such as soil stabilization and reinforcement are employed to improve the mechanical
behavior of the soil and thereby enhancing the reliability of construction. The main objective of this study is to assess the possibility of using Sisal Fibre and Lime as stabilizing agents and to understand the effective performances of these admixture additives in controlling several properties of expansive soils under laboratory conditions. The present study deals with the strength behavior of the expansive soil that is collected from Amalapuram, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India, and the performance of sisal fibre as an admixture and lime as an additive for improving the strength characteristics and stabilizing the expansive soil.

Often damages are expressed in qualitative terms like small, moderate, severe and devastating etc. However, the building damage can be expressed in quantitative terms too and compared with respect to one another. Analytical Hierarchical process (AHP) is a well-known multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) technique to express qualitative measures in
quantitative terms. In order to handle ambiguity of the qualitative assessment by humans, the concept of fuzzy theory was embedded by many researchers to the AHP technique. The current study focuses on the development of seismic damage assessment index (SDAI) of buildings using fuzzy AHP technique. The index developed is applied on buildings damaged in 2011 Sikkim earthquake. These buildings are ranked on the basis of damage score. The proposed indexing model can help in comparing and ranking of the
buildings for the types of damages caused to them by earthquakes and also for identifying and studying the damage levels in a seismic event. Seismic damage indexing model presented based on fuzzy-AHP is simple, and hence, embraces the possibility for various civil, structural and earthquake engineering applications

Abstract In this paper, Carry Skip Adder is segregated into many blocks like 1-bit Full Adder, AND gate and MUX. In the place of 1-bit full adder different Full adders using 20T, 16T, 14T, 10T, 9T, and 8T are replaced and analyzed. Propagation delay, Static and dynamic power are the major parameters considered while designing the adders. The results show that the time taken is less in carry propagation over successive stages. Due to less transistor count, Carry Skip Adder has less area, less delay and low power dissipation
compared to other adders. The performance analysis is done in CMOS, FinFET and CNTFET in 20nm technology with supply voltage of 0.9v and simulation is done by using Synopsys HSPICE tool.

Abstract Vast areas particularly the coastal regions are covered with thick soft marine clay deposits. India has a large coastline exceeding 6000kms. In general; Soft Marine Clays are generally weak and possesses high deformation values in nature. Soft soils are generally labeled as ‘problematic’ because of their poor resistance to deformation, low permeability and limited bearing capacity natures. Its properties differ significantly in moist and dry conditions. Due to the poor engineering characteristics of these deposits, they pose several foundation problems to various coastal structures. Keeping in view the research findings outlined above, in the present work, experimentation was carried out to investigate the efficacy of different additives viz., phosphogypsum and lime, in stabilizing the marine clay thereby improving its strength, swell characteristics. Systematic and methodological process was followed involving experimentation in the laboratory under controlled condition.

Using Floquet theory of impulsive differential equations and small amplitude perturbation technique we establish pest control through the local stability of both the periodic solutions. Also numerical examples have been given in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented theoretical results.

Importance to be given for research in the field of reuse of natural resources where ever possible. Demand on water by construction industry is growing day by day. This demand includes water for washing
of aggregates, concrete curing, cleaning of construction equipment’s and machines. Water required for mixing of concrete should be fresh water and sea water cannot be used for concrete works. Wastewater generated from various industries can be treated and be recycled and can be used for construction activities, if the quality of water adheres the standards. Dairy industry is one among the most contaminating industries in food sector. This is due to the production of large volumes of wastewater and has high impurities. In this study an attempt has been made to use dairy industry wastewater for mixing and curing of concrete in three different formulations. Freshwater used for mixing and wastewater after treatment for curing has good structural property. Compressive strength of concrete was 32.88 N/mm2 after 28 days of curing. This was observed in the case of Formulation II. Indicating the applicability of wastewater in curing. Split Tensile Strength on cylinders was carried out and the increase in strength was noted as 2.95 N/mm2 . This was more when compared with formulation I. This indicates that the dairy wastewater is a good alternative for freshwater for curing purpose. Flexural Strength Test was carried out on beams and the results depicted that the formulation II was best suited for the same. The strength of 10 N/mm2 was obtained. The curing water subjected for testing indicated that the chemical constituents of the water change after curing. The curing water had an increase COD, BOD, Alkalinity and Total solids. A slight increase in pH, turbidity was also noted

Abstract This Time is one of the major considerations throughout project management life cycle and can be regarded as one of the most important parameters of a project and the driving force of project success. Time delay is a very frequent phenomenon and is almost associated with nearly all constructing projects. However, little effort has been made to curtail the phenomenon, this research work attempts to identify, investigate, and rank factors perceived to affect delays in construction projects with respect to their relative importance so as to proffer possible ways of coping with this phenomenon. To achieve this objective, researcher invited practitioners and experts, comprising a statistically representative sample to participate in a structured questionnaire survey. Brain storming was taken into consideration, through which a number of delay factors were identified in construction projects. Totally, ninety-nine
(99) factors were short-listed to be made part of the questionnaire survey and were identified and categorized into nine (9) major categories. The survey was conducted with experts and representatives from private, public, and local general construction firms. Delay in construction have been classified in different ways. Sample feedback form (Table 5.1) along with ranking criteria developed based upon linkert scale (Table no. 5.2) was also disseminated to various experience Project managers, engineers, Project Head etc. to record their responses over Probable Reasons/cause for Delay in Project Completion. Many uncertainties can cause construction projects to be delayed, resulting in conflicts between the two parties to a construction contract. Using case study and content analysis methodologies, this study analyzed 79 litigation cases to identify the main causes of schedule delays in construction projects, which are “change orders,” “changed scope of the work,” “delayed site handover,” and “weather.” In this study, these causes are organized into a causation model to provide a reference for preventing schedule delay. The employed approach can be implemented for assessments of other regions, as schedule delays are common features in most construction projects. The most important according to the key project participants; clients, consultants, and contractors. Thirty-two possible causes of delay were identified from the literature and semi-structured interviews of 15 key players in the implementation process. These delay factors were further categorised into nine major groups. The list of delay causes was subjected to a questionnaire survey for the identification of the most important causes of delay. The field survey included 130 respondents made up of 39 contractors, 37 clients and54 consultants. The relative importance of the individual causes and the groups were calculated and ranked by their relative importance index. The overall results of
the study indicate that the respondents generally agree that financial group factors ranked highest among the major factors causing delay in construction projects. The financial group factors were delay in honouring payment certificates, difficulty in accessing credit and fluctuation in prices. Materials group factors are second followed by scheduling and controlling factors. Contracting is an integral part of construction projects. Managing the contracts therefore is equally important for the success of any business process due to rapid increase in multiple contracts. The conventional method of managing contract involves risks and chaos which include inadequate information in contracts, inadequate delegation of authority and responsibility, fraud, theft, corruption, other unethical activities, communication gap, delayed financial decisions thus dampening the progress of the project, all due to manual intervention in managing contracts. This calls for a need of systematic and an effective method of contract management. This paper speaks about Intelligent Contract Management (automated contract management) which is an efficient, transparent and flawless concept of

Abstract Rapid Population growth results in scarcity of land for housing, commercial, industrial, transportation and infrastructure purpose. This necessitated the use of land, which has weak strata, where the geotechnical engineers are challenged by the presence of problematic soils with varied engineering properties. One of such soil is marine clay. Marine Clays are problematic soils all around the world and
especially in the regions where climate is arid or semi-arid. These soils are highly compressible soils suffering from low shear strength and high compressibility associated with movements of pavements and foundations may result in cracking and breaking of structures. Several methods are used to improve the engineering properties of marine clay. Among those methods, chemical stabilization is widely used. In this present study the consolidation characteristics i.e., coefficient of consolidation, compression index and rate
of consolidation of untreated and treated marine clay were determined by adding Calcium Carbide Powder as admixture and also with chemicals i.e. ammonium chloride, potassium chloride and ferric chloride.

Abstract Environmental sanitation is of very important concern in the process of development of a country. Discharge of untreated sewage water is common a practice in many countries. This is common cause of pollution of surface and groundwater because of large gap between generation and treatment of wastewater. This paper helps in evaluate the overall performance of the Sewage Treatment Plant, UASB reactor and facultative pond. The results of the tests are coming out are under the guidelines of Punjab pollution control
board. BOD, COD, MPN, nutrients in the treated effluent were 21.51 mg/l, 42.33 mg/l, 11.84 log units, 9.64 mg/l respectively. BOD, COD, pathogen, nutrients removal efficiency of the STP is 81.08%, 83.6%, 98.86% and 51.73% respectively.1

Abstract Our this project is based on the alternative solution of the precision investment casting process , which is very slow in production process and vary costly process due to large manual labour and loss of wax during the casting process. The demerits of precision investment casting develop the need of development of new method of casting which can replace precision casting and remove its demerits. In our project we have proposed a new conceptual design of pattern of casting which the loose-piece and piece- wise pattern
manufacturing process to replace precision investment casting process. There is an object that has prepared using the loose-piece pattern process with all the allowances which is provided during producing a pattern and compared with the precision investment casting process. The investment casting process have the limitation of the size and mass of the casting. On the other hand our proposed method of pattern loose-piece pattern require a low cost and also a less time consuming process as compared to the precision investment casting process. The new conceptual pattern loose piece pattern process does not produce a high grade surface finish product as compared to the precision investment casting process which produces a higher grade surface finish. But because of technological development, high quality grinding and finishing operation machines are available which can provide better surface finish. So the new conceptual method of producing casting can produce high quality surface finish of final product, large and heavy product with less cost and high speed.

INFLUENCE OF DUAL BIO-FUEL ON SINGLE CYLINDER VARIABLE FUEL INJECTION PRESSURE DIESEL ENGINE

Abstract Fossil fuel sources in the world are falling at a high level due to the immense growth of the population and the use of technology. According to studies, there is a gap between supply and demand. It will gradually increase in the coming days. It is necessary to fill up the gap between demand and supply. Developing countries like India, invests heavily on imports of petroleum fuels. In such countries most of automotive and transport vehicles are run on diesel. Diesel vehicles discharges considerable amount of pollutants like UHC, CO, NOx, lead, soot, which are very harmful for society and environment. However, to overcome this menace, the bio-fuels are being used in IC engines as alternate fuels. To attain the complete combustion of the charge in the cylinder the fuel injection parameters play a large role. The major parameters are no. of fuel nozzle holes, fuel droplet size and fuel injection pressure. These parameters can influence the performance of engine as well as emission characteristics of an I.C. engine. In this present work, experimental
study was carried out using a blends of dual bio-fuels and diesel in a single cylinder, 4-stroke water cooled light duty injection CI engine at various injection pressures 180,200 and 240 bars. Here the tests were carried out for pure diesel and blends of 30% turpentine and turmeric oils by volume in diesel engine at constant speed with variable loads. The performance results at 180 to 200 bars of blend very closer to pure diesel results. The emissions UHC and CO are very less at 200 bars than pure diesel. The NOx emissions are lesser at 240 bars compare to pure diesel. The overall performance is good at 180 and 200 bars. But the emissions are decreased when increasing injections pressure.

ECOLOGICAL STATUS AND DIVERSITY OF AVIAN SPECIES IN BUNDELKHAND REGION, INDIA

Abstract Avian fauna are among the best known parts of the Earth’s biodiversity and important component of forest ecosystem. An extensive survey on Avian Biodiversity of Bundelkhand Region was carried out from December - 2015 to November - 2017. It included population ecology, feeding, breeding and nesting behavior. Seasonal variation has also been studied. During the study period, 81 species belonging to 34 families and 15 orders were recorded from the study area. Out of 81 species of birds, four species are globally threatened, two were critically endangered, one endangered and one vulnerable species. Water scarcity, reduced food availability, climatic conditions and other anthropogenic disturbances are responsible for their declining status. Immediate efforts for their conservation are needed

A FABRICATION MODEL OF SILENCER BASED POWER GENERATION

Abstract The project aimed at developing a system which is capable of generating energy from the air pressure that comes out from the vehicle’s silencer. The alternative forms of available energy constituted a substantial range and more forms are being discovered. This silencer based power generation is a low cost system and lots of energy can be generated from these days in the available vehicles with no additional damages to the nature. The project used an air foil blade of turbine and silencer setup. The air pressure from the silencer will be fallen on the air foil blades of the turbine and rotate the turbine fan blade, which is connected to a DC generator through the rotor shaft. In turbine, the wind energy is converted to mechanical energy. The mechanical energy produced in turbine is again converted to the electrical energy as DC power. The energy produced in DC generator by electromagnetic induction mechanism is stored in rechargeable battery for rural electrification. This stored energy in the rechargeable battery is fed to an inverter, which is
to DC power converted to AC power. The generated AC power supply in the inverter is sent to the AC load switching like bulbs or any home appliances. The major features of this project are alternative form of energy generation, silencer based power generation, power storage into rechargeable battery, AC load switching from rechargeable battery, finding the effective directions and positions of turbine, comparing the voltage readings of blower setup and bike setup power generation at particular speed and calculating
the voltage readings of speed variation in bike setup. The major building blocks of this project are silencer setup, turbine blade, DC generator, rechargeable battery, inverter, bulb and multimeter. The aimed project “A Fabrication Model of Silencer Based Power Generation” is fabricated such that turbine power generation from silencer air pressure and used the power for rural electrification. The optimum voltage reading of blower setup and bike setup at 3000rpm speed have shown that the best and effective direction
and position of wind turbine is at X-axes in 1800 position for high power generation in DC generator. The voltage readings of the different increasing speeds in bike setup at X-axes in 1800 position of wind turbine are also noted. The maximum power generated at various speeds of bike setup is 4.58 volts at 5000rpm. It is concluded that the effective direction and position of wind turbine is X-axes at 1800 position in blower setup as well as in bike setup. It is also concluded that maximum power generation of X-axes turbine column
direction and turbine fan at 1800 position of different increasing speed of bike setup is at 5000rpm economic speed. Integrating features of all the used hardware components has been developed in it. Every module has been reasoned out and carefully placed and also contributed to the best working unit. With the help of growing technology, the highly advanced IC’s are used in the project. The project has been successfully implemented. Thus the project has been successfully fabricated and tested.

EFFECT OF LIGHT WAVELENGTH ON TOTAL PHENOLICS AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF DE-ETIOLATED SEEDLINGS OF AMARANTHUS SPECIES

Abstract Total phenolic concentration and anti-oxidant activity of de-etiolated seedlings of A. viridis and A. tricolor observed and compared with control conditions. Thus the study indicates the effect of light wavelengths such as blue (450-430nm), green(560-520nm), red(680-640nm) and white light in which all the waves are seen together, on the phenolic content and anti-oxidant properties of the two Amaranthus sps tested. The result obtained was that, in A. viridis white light triggered the phenolic production and antioxidant acivity. It was followed by blue and red lights. While in A. tricolor blue light triggered it and was followed by white and red lights. Antioxidant and phenolic concentration in seedlings treated in the dark was found to be significantly lower than LED treated seedlings

Abstract Modern institutes and companies are drifting from traditional software development models to well optimized Agile development. Agile works out to produce efficient deliverables. Scrum, an Agile methodology follows an incremental and iterative approach. In this way, Scrum is able to cope up with the continuous changes in the requirements. The paper briefly describes the scrum methodology along with the sprint design, product backlog, daily sessions and sprint retrospectives. The focal point of the scrum technology is to carry on with the changing requirements of the end users. The paper focuses on a research of adapting Scrum framework of Agile development for the purpose of Student Counselling. In Scrum methodology, the process is incremented with Sprints of about two to four weeks so the progress is aligned with the requirements. In this experiment, scrum is used to design an effective and productive solution to improve the score of students and lead them to become fast learners. From The results obtained from the analysis of the old and new strategy, it is inferred that the scrum technique upgraded the performance of the students. The paper intends to show how scrum development technology is easily and efficiently applicable to real life situations.

STUDY ON WORKABILITY AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE WITH PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF CEMENT BY BARITES

Abstract This study represents the behaviour of concrete, having partial replacement of cement with barites. The focus of our project will be strengthening concrete by replacing cement by barites in the most economical way by using the proper grade of concrete for increasing density of concrete. The mineral barite is a cheap and locally available material. Barites is a clean, smooth, naturally unresponsive and inexpensive mineral. It is non-toxic and also chemically and physically uncreative. It is used to make high-density concrete to block xray emissions in hospitals, power plants and laboratories. They can help to improve the workability and reduces the heat of hydration. M20 grade concrete was used for which the barites are replaced and an experimental study was carried out and the effect on compressive strength characteristics (0%, 10%, 20% and 30%) was studied. Water-cement ratio is to be kept same as that of normal concrete. The compressive strength of the concrete mixtures has been obtained at 7, 14, 28 and 56 days. The result of the laboratory work showed that replacement of cement with barites increases, up to 10% for compressive strength of concrete.

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF CEMENT WITH METAKAOLIN

Abstract Environmental pollution caused by the extraction of raw materials and CO2 emissions in the production of cement leads to the pressures to reduce the consumption of this constituent of concrete. At the same time requirement of cement should be fulfilled and also need to increase its durability. The cement highly energy intensive and costly component of concrete thus the unit cost of concrete can be reduced by percentage replacement of cement with other waste pozzolanic materials. Some materials are also used to enhance strength and durability properties of concrete materials such as metakaolin and another byproduct like flyash. Metakaolin is the anhydrous calcined form of the clay mineral kaolinite. Past investigation shows that partial replacement of cement with metakaolin increases the strength of the concrete, durability and gives a fine finish. In this present study, mechanical properties of metakaolin and
compressive of the concrete with partial replacement of cement 5%, 10% and 15% with metakaolin are investigated. Various tests on metakaolin are performed and mix design works out. Results show that the specific gravity of metakaolin is 2.73. The compressive strength of MK5 for 28 days was higher by 24% respectively than the control mix M20. The compressive strength of MK10 and MK15 for 28 days was higher by 24%, 44%, and 29% respectively than the control mix M20 and the optimum percentage replacement of MK is found to be 10%. . As Metakaolin has pozzolanic properties, so it shows positive effect in resulting properties of concrete.

THE ROLE OF NANOSILICA IN ENHANCING THE PERFORMANCE OF CONCRETE – A REVIEW

Abstract This review paper reports the up-to-date developments concerning use of nano-materials in construction industry. In this paper, exhaustive research work done on the application of nanosilica in the concrete is reported along with their research findings on the enhanced properties of concrete incorporated with nanosilica. It is reported that nanosilica based enhances the mechanical and durability properties significantly. Compressive strength at as early as 3 and 7 days is increased by nearly 25-30%, with overall
strength improvement at 28 days is about 30-40%. Compressive strength at age after 90 days found to increase by nearly 15-20%. Setting times and workability are found to be reduced in nanosilica concrete due to its very fineness and high reactivity. The effect of nanosilica on the properties of standard to high strength grade concrete is found to be very high than ordinary grade concrete. Dense microstructure due to refined pore diameters by nanosilica particles proved to be excellent durable construction material

The present study includes structures with symmetrical plan and structures with horizontal irregular plan of G+7 stories on sloping ground considering earthquake Zone III with and without Friction Damper are
modeled and analyzed using ETABs 2015 Computer package. The results obtained are in the form of displacement, storey drift, and storey shear for buildings with and without Friction Damper. The buildings which are having Friction Damper are safer than the buildings which are not having Damper

Abstract The Proposing method improves the quality of degraded document images which are effected by salt and pepper noise. Noise effects the Document image quality and further processing. Thus to improve the quality of image we need to supress the noise. There are a number of methods to reduce different types of noise in document images. The proposing algorithm focusing on detecting and eliminating salt and pepper noise from infected document image. This proposing method works based on pixel connectivity
principles and labelling methods these methods helps to detect salt and pepper noise in the image. If pixels are connected in different label values then those pixels are connected and it is noise free. The results of the proposed technique are improved in terms of PSNR, SSIM, and MAE.

Abstract Piles are especially for lowland areas frequently penetrate through loose soil deposits. In loose soils, this piles likely to exhibit excessive displacements at ground level under lateral loads. Several methods are available to predicting the ultimate lateral resistance of rigid pile in cohesive and cohesionless soils. In this paper, a new approach based on kinematics and hyperbolic model (nonlinear approach) has been developed to study the rigid free head pile in cohesionless soils. Based on this approach ultimate lateral resistance, rotating point for corresponding displacements at ground level of rigid pile for different subgrade reaction of soil(kso), Lateral soil pressure(qmax), Diameter of pile(D) and Length of pile(L) has been studied.
